Wow your guests using the easiest naked cake tutorial.
Many people find baking to be complicated with all the exact measurements and then the added stress of actually decorating it. BUT, it really doesn’t have to be! Who says you have to make a cake from scratch? This is the easiest naked cake tutorial because literally anyone can make it. If you know how to mix a couple of eggs, oil, water and a cake box mix, then this tutorial is for you!
Look how beautiful a naked cake is! A naked cake is essentially a cake with minimal frosting on the outside. You are able to see a good amount of the natural texture from the cake. Some naked cakes just have frosting in between the layers but I like to add some on the outer edges as well.
Here’s a video showing you just how easy it is to make!
All you have to do is follow the directions on a cake box mix and create a three layer cake by using three round cake pans. Just make sure to equally distribute the batter and bake at 350 degrees. You won’t need to bake this more than 15-20 minutes. Frequently check on the cakes to make sure you don’t over bake it.
Cool your cakes on a baking rack and I like to just keep it in the fridge until I’m ready to ice it. Go outside and find a few clippings from your yard like I did with my gardenia bush. I also cut a few mini carnations. I made sure to wash all the stems and leaves before placing them on the cake. You can use a container of pre-made frosting to keep it REEEEAL easy or you can use the frosting of your choice. I used my favorite chocolate mousse icing recipe and just a vanilla cake box mix.
Simply place the leaves around the cake platter and add a few flowers on the top. Easy peasy and looks so fancy! I made this for my daughter’s 11th birthday and it’s just a beautiful way to create a semi-homemade cake.
Here’s my vanilla cake with chocolate mousse naked cake that I shared a while back. Isn’t she a beauty? Almost too good to eat! You can add any fruit like I did here. Just make sure they are completely clean and dried before placing them on the cake.
I hope you found this tutorial helpful. Again, this cake is super easy to do since there’s no piping or decorating skills involved. If you make it, be sure to post a photo on my facebook page. I’d love to see it!
