This lemon detox smoothie is chock full of nutrition and everything you need to start your day right.
I like to call this my mental health smoothie. With everything going on in our nation and world, I know that it can all be quite overwhelming. Recently, I have been making this lemon detox smoothie with a few modifications here and there. It is refreshing, delicious, and everything my body needs to fuel itself.
If you aren’t eating enough fruits and vegetables throughout the day, this is the perfect smoothie for you. I’ve never added lemons into my smoothies before but I’m officially hooked. I keep the skin on and everything. You will want to remove seeds but don’t peel or remove the skin. Lemon skin has a ton of nutrition like vitamin C, calcium, and fiber.
The citrus fruits add a nice zing of flavor to the smoothie!
Detox Smoothie (2 servings)
- banana
- handful of baby carrots
- 1 sliced apple (skin on)
- 1 sliced lemon (skin on)
- 1 cup of spinach, kale or both
- 1 orange (I peeled mine)
- 1 cup of ice and water
I use my Ninja to blend it all together but I know that a Vitamix would be perfect for this type of smoothie. Know that it will be a bit chunkier than your usual strawberry and banana type of smoothie. Just think about all that yummy fiber and nutrition you’re providing for your body.
One for me and one for Jimmy! To be honest, I didn’t know if my kids would drink this but they love it! So now, I have to double the recipe for all of us or else someone steals mine. Sometimes, I add frozen blueberries and strawberries to change it up.
I always get asked about these seagrass glasses and they are from Serena and Lily. You remove the covers when you wash the glasses. The seagrass cover acts as a koozie and coaster in one. I also have the pitcher and it’s usually out on my island displaying flowers or simple greenery.
Do you see what I mean?!? The kids love the tanzy zest from the lemon. I’ve been making smoothies daily as the weather has started to warm up in Georgia.
Here’s to staying healthy and strong, friends. Lmk if you try it!
xoxo,
