Hi guys! Here’s a little recap of the Valentines ideas I’ve posted so far.
- Valentine’s Round-Up (card ideas for kids)
- Carrot Cake/Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Frosting
- Yarn Pom Pom Craft
You guys want an easy dessert?! Here you go! It really can’t get any easier than this. If you’ve never tried these truffles, you better go get the ingredients now and make them for this weekend. Joe Joe’s are basically the Trader Joe’s brand of Oreos.
You only need 3 ingredients to make these! You could also use a box of Oreos. Make sure your 8 oz cream cheese is softened so it’s easier to work with.
Put the entire bag of cookies in a large bowl.
I use the end of my wooden roller to crush all the cookies. Smash them until they are fine. You can also use a large zip lock bag and step on it. #theghettoway
When you get tired, make your son smash them while his baby sister yells at him for a cookie. I know… he looks thrilled.
Nope, not done. Gotta smash more!
After the cookies are smashed into fine bits, place the block of cream cheese in and smoosh it all together with your hands. Don’t you just love my elaborate directions?
Now make them into balls with your hands and place them on a tray. This will make about 24 truffles. I like to place them on wax paper. You can either freeze them for about 10-15 minutes or just keep them in the fridge until you’re ready to coat them with chocolate.
I know….. they look terrible and not very appetizing. These not only photograph badly, they are pretty bad looking in real life too. It’s OKAY, because you will douse them in melted chocolate!
You will need about 1 1/2 – 2 cups of chocolate chips. You can use white, milk or dark chocolate. I was really sad I was out of dark chocolate so I used milk and white. Put about 1 cup of chocolate chips in a bowl for a minute and then mix it around with a fork to see if it’s melted. If not, place back into the microwave for 20 second increments until ready.
When your chocolate is melted and easy to work with, just use a fork to place each ball in and roll it till you get the desired coverage. Then place back onto the wax paper.
Place them in the fridge so the chocolate can set. They don’t look that great on the tray so put them on a nice white plate. Presentation is key people!
Or on some cupcake liners. Don’t they look yummy?
Pack some in a clear bag to give away. I put a little Valentines straw and a handmade, crochet heart hairpin. #hairjules
So fancy!
If you’re not a baker, this is the perfect dessert to try. I don’t recommend making these as cake pops because they are top heavy and will fall off the stick. Just eat as is! I think they taste best when they are cold so you can leave them in the fridge until you’re ready to devour them. Enjoy, my friends!
