Chances are you have seen Dalgona coffee trending all over the internet.
As we finish week 3 of our quarantine, there are some things that have become a highlight in our day. One of these is drinking Dalgona coffee. Once 2 PM hits, I make two cups and it’s become one of the things that Jimmy and I look forward to every afternoon. He is usually very busy working upstairs so this little drink definitely helps as he sits through multiple conference calls the rest of the afternoon. Here’s how to make it at home so that you too can enjoy my version of the healthier Dalgona decaf coffee.
Dalgona coffee has taken the internet by the storm and I first saw it being made on Tik Tok. Oh yeah, that’s also become another highlight of this quarantine. I’ve joined Tik Tok and I am not ashamed to say that I love it so very much!
Okay, back to the coffee. I don’t drink coffee. EVER. I don’t love the taste and I especially don’t need the caffeine. The original recipe calls for regular instant coffee, white sugar and milk. Since I try to stay away from dairy due to our sensitive stomachs, I used unsweetened almond milk. You have to use instant coffee so be sure to read the label. If you like the caffeine version, by all means stick to that!
Here’s my lighter version but just as delicious version!
Healthier Decaf Dalgona Coffee
This is for one serving so just double it if you’re making it for two people.
Ingredients:
- 1 tbsp decaf instant coffee
- 1 tbsp monkfruit sweetener
- 1 tbsp boiling water
- 1/2- 1 cup almond milk
- 1 cup ice
Directions:
- Take your instant coffee, hot water and sweetener in a bowl and whisk by hand for about 5 minutes. You will whisk until it gets creamy and foamy. You can also use a hand mixer but hey, you probably could use the little exercise.
- Pour some almond milk into your cup of ice
- Scoop the creamy mixture on top of the milk
Oh man, it looks so good!
Mix with a long spoon or straw. This drink tastes so rich and refreshing but it’s only 30 calories!
What are some of the ways you are trying to make the best of this quarantine?
If you make this, lmk! I am sure you will love it.
xoxo
