The transformation to our modern transitional family room now reflects more our style and family.
First off, I want to thank you so much for all the kind support and encouragement from my last post on our journey to fostering. I was blown away by your kind words, prayers and support. Jimmy and I finished our training last weekend and it was eye-opening, overwhelming, humbling and heart wrenching. I will continue to share as we take further steps into this new journey. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to send me an email at loveyourabode@gmail.com. Today, it’s all about our modern transitional family room.
Here’s where we started.
Today, I wanted to share some more photos of our new modern transitional family room that we completed in partnership with Home Depot. I shared the complete transformation last week but I wanted to share some more shots that weren’t included in the Home Depot post. I’ve added exact and similar sources by providing some affiliate links for your convenience.
I love a hodge podge of interior design looks but I’m learning that as my home evolves, I’m definitely drawn more to the transitional modern style. I tend to gravitate towards clean lines, simple decor and I love the classic take on mixing traditional and modern pieces. But I still love a little bit of rustic, vintage and mid-century so honestly, I’m style confused sometimes. I like to think the mix keeps it visually interesting.
As I share these photos, I realize I’ve already changed the console table here. Remember, I have DMS… decor moving syndrome. #itsreal
I’ve been receiving a lot of questions regarding our slip covered couches so I’ll share a post on that soon. And I had to share this bottom picture because I didn’t realize there were wipes on the console table. I decided to leave it because that’s real life!
Hope you enjoyed the new space. We love the paneled wall so much and the room actually feels larger and brighter during the day even with the dark wall. You can still find the tutorial over at Home Depot for the paneled wall. Lmk if you have any questions and have a wonderful day!

I love the living room makeover! … Your TV console table is adorable. Glad to see you didn’t paint or alter it. … Have you ever considered concealing the TV by using a wall mount with a sliding panel in front of the TV, or building a frame around the TV with hinges on the side that are attached to a panel (artwork or plain panel) that hangs in front of the TV when not in use, and opens to the side while watching TV?

Hi Lea! Thanks so much for the comment. I would never paint that gorgeous credenza. I have thought about hiding the tv but it seemed to permanent of a change for me bc I like change so much. But that is a wonderful idea! Thank you so much for sharing that with me and for reading. I truly appreciate it!

Love your home, very warm and inviting looking. You have so many fabulous pieces in your home that it would be hard for me to say what I love the most. However, I do love your decoration style. Nice job!
