This modern farmhouse living room is full of different neutral textures and warm wood tones that create a soft and inviting atmosphere.
I’ve been working with some very sweet clients on decorating their home and I’ve recently finished styling their family room. My clients, Soomy and Coline lean towards a farmhouse aesthetic but like clean and simple lines so there’s a modern component thrown into the mix. Here are some before and after photos of their modern farmhouse living room.
Their leather couch sectional is amazing and you’ll see how textiles can soften the look.
Soomy’s house is already quite beautiful and they recently had this gorgeous ship lap installed on their main wall. The contractor also put in a custom built in media console. I mostly styled the space with some new decor and added textiles to the space. Just look at their sweet dog, Bagel!
Here’s the AFTER!
I styled the shelves with a mix of vases, greenery and frames so that there would be multiple places to add family photos. Plants whether real or faux just add life and color to any space. I always make sure to add plants into my design.
Here’s the other side of the shelves.
Styling shelves are one of my favorite hobbies. I think I could do this all day every day.
The neutral decor still looks interesting due to the varying sizes and textures of each piece.
The mantle also received a makeover. I replaced the focal piece with a larger mirror and still used the lanterns that they already had. I added some wooden vases and again, included plants and faux lambs ear branches.
The mantle makes simple statement without being overly dramatic.
I also restyled the sofa table behind their sectional. I added a window pane mirror and placed a pair of mercury glass lamps. A simple faux magnolia wreath adds a nice farmhouse touch.
I added some neutral pillows and a throw to brighten up the couch. There’s a nice contrast between the masculine and feminine details in this space. The black ottoman was previously too heavy and dark and I recommended they bring this tufted one up from the basement. It fit perfectly! A tray is used to coral magazines, remotes and coasters for drinks.
When working with neutrals, it’s important to add different textures to add dimension and interest to the space. Plus, it always creates a warm and cozy ambience. What do you think? Here are a couple of side by side comparisons.
They loved the results and that made me happy. It’s awesome when your clients entrust you with their home and that is truly an honor!
Thanks for reading, friends! I hope to be back tomorrow with some Friday Favorites.
