How to make DIY cluster ornaments to create a big impact on your Christmas trees.
Recently, I had the most amazing opportunity to volunteer as a White House decorator. I was one of 12 Pinterest creators who also had the special opportunity to take some of the beautiful decor inspiration we received and create similar projects at home. We hope these projects inspire you to recreate some of the magic we helped create at the People’s House. You can read all about my experience here.
One of the details I loved seeing was the cluster of ornaments throughout the White House Christmas trees. There were 98 Christmas trees decked out in the most beautiful ornaments. Most of what you see in the White House is the work of vendors and 300 volunteers from across the United States.
I loved working on the cluster ornaments since I was in charge of the two humongous Advent-themed trees in the East room. These trees were massive and we needed to have a ton of ornaments to create an impact. If you want to make a more dramatic impact on your trees, try creating cluster ornaments.
All you have to do is use floral wire and add ball ornaments of different sizes. Then, you just wrap the wire around the tree! So easy! I love how this looks on the mini-flocked trees. You can make them as small or big as you want. Think, clusters of green, red, or even color combinations to create a unique look.
I painted some of the ornaments pink so that they matched some of the other ornaments I had. I wanted to keep the palette pink and purple for these mini trees in the foyer.
Don’t these look so cute?! Have you finished decorating yet? I am still working on it at our home!
Think about how cute these would be in a larger tree with jumbo ornament ball clusters. I hope this inspires you to add a little bit of the White House touches to your own home this season. Be sure to also check out my DIY bookpage art that was also inspired by the beautiful decor showcased in the Vermeil Room in the White House.
Hope you have a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
