See how to add fun Halloween elements to your home and make your kids happy at the same time.
Every year when we near the end of September, my kids get so excited to start decorating for Halloween. We can’t handle anything too spooky but man do they love those cheap spider webs and fake spiders of all sizes. For my son, this is just another excuse to take out his container of fake arachnids and put them all over the house. It’s the only time of year these nasty things are welcomed as part of our home decor. Here’s how to add fun Halloween elements to your home in a stylish and not too spooky way.
I’m joining a group of my talented blogger friends for a fun Halloween blog hop. Be sure to visit their blogs that are linked at the end of this post so you can see all their fun ideas.
Here are some simple tips on how to add fun Halloween elements to your home.
-
Tip 1: Add cheap cobwebs
I purchased this draping spider web from Target and it’s awesome. I use the other cheaper kind for our front door. I reuse these fake spiders every year and JJ is a very happy boy. 😀
JJ and Emmy went to town on the front door last weekend. If you want a really simple and practically free DIY Halloween project, make these! These DIY twig spider webs are so easy and perfect for Halloween.

Tip 2: Bring on the spiders!
Aren’t they so much fun? The kids love putting spiders all over them. They tie in nicely with my real life spider webs out on our front entrance. Ha!
Tip 3: Add real and fake pumpkins
I added mini cream colored pumpkins along with the faux black ones from Joann. My sweet friend and neighbor, Adrienne gifted me with that awesome black candelabra for my birthday recently and it’s perfect up there on the mantle.
It’s a little bit of spooky with some styled elements to make this mama happy too.
I brought out all my black accented throws and added them into the room for some pops of black.
Instead of using orange, I opted for tangerine pillows and a bright throw from my staging decor stash.
Textured pillows are perfect for Fall for adding an instant cozy and warm vibe.
The buffalo checkered ottoman was pulled from my kitchen desk and will be stationed here for this month. I love changing things up by shopping my home and moving it around for a new look.

Tip 4: Gimme me that Candy Corn!
I don’t normally ever put out candy for display but I thought this would be fun to do. It makes for a cute display and the kids get to eat 1-2 pieces every day. I know. I’m so generous! Look, ain’t nobody got time for cavities.
The kids are super happy and I love keeping this tradition every year as we embrace Fall and get excited about this new season. Even though it makes them happy, I have to say that it makes me happier seeing their sweet faces light up when they see those nasty spiders. It’s the anticipation of cooler weather, upcoming holidays and pumpkin everything. Speaking of pumpkin, I’m off to Trader Joe’s to buy everything pumpkin flavored. I may just share a blog post soon with all my favorites because I just love that store!
