This week’s Friday Favorites include the 80’s, some cool blogging news and recent fun posts.
Today, I’m linking up my Friday Favorites with Andrea at Momfessionals. Did you all have a great Halloween? I look forward to it every year because our neighborhood friends truly deliver the best costumes. We walk our streets with the kids and end up having the best time laughing and filling our bellies with chocolates. I over indulged because anything chocolate combined with peanuts or almonds are just not safe around me! Today’s Friday Favorites include all things Halloween and some fun blogging news that I figured I could finally share here on LYA.
Halloween 2018
First up, pics of our Halloween night!
I had a hard time figuring out what we were going to be up until like 2 days before Halloween. I finally decided to hit the thrift store for some inspiration. Well, good thing I did because I spotted that tubular denim jacket and Jimmy’s radical turquoise short sleeved button up shirt. Can you believe those were the only two items I had to buy? The mullet seems to somehow make an appearance every year.
Fun fact: That hideous puffy retro jacket was the one my dad wore when he immigrated to the US in 1985. Crazy that we kept it right? It’s truly a vintage Nike jacket. We cut up a pair of my FIL’s short to make them into jorts and he was pretty much good to go. Those are his normal socks by the way. Ha! I wore my daughter’s skirt and just layered on all the jewelry and scrunchies I could find. I wanted to tease my hair up high in the front but it was a fail because I didn’t have a comb or hairspray.
Emmy wore Jules’ old Cinderella dress. I actually sewed that dress back in the day when I used to love sewing. I’m so glad both girls got good use out of it.
JJ went with a homemade costume and went as a spider which is quite fitting. Jules went as Marie Curie who was a physicist and the first female to ever win the Nobel Prize. Isn’t that amazing? I love that my daughter chose a freaking scientist! She has more confidence in what she likes and doesn’t care to conform with the crowd. What a boss!
Our neighborhood gang has so much fun every year and we really get into the spirit thanks mostly to that Spiderman guy right there. Mike’s costume is epic every year and helps us all get super creative and have as much as fun as the kids do.
I’m dying looking at this photo.
The kids took multiple breaks to eat a treat or two. I also participated in these very important breaks. My favorites are anything dark chocolate, twix and peanut butter chocolates. Basically, I like chocolate. 😀
Emmy had a blast and look, she carried my LaZBoy bag! I’ll share more about that later.
Jimmy’s dad went as a US Veteran (which he is btw) and when he first spotted Jimmy from far away, he wondered who the ugly woman was. 😀 #itsyourson
As always, we had a blast and I’m still suffering from sugar overload.
Italy Recap and Tips
Last week and this week, I shared two Italy posts sharing some traveling tips to Rome and Florence.
I have one more left and that’s Venice! Can you believe all the flooding that happened in Venice this week? It’s crazy and I can’t believe we missed it by a couple of weeks. They are used to floods but I heard this is the worst one in 10 years.

Home Depot
In a couple of weeks, I’ll be flying up to New York to see my sister’s family. Home Depot asked me to partner with them on a Christmas makeover and instead of doing it for my own home, I asked if they were okay with me gifting it to my sister’s family. They have moved around a ton and they have finally settled into a home with their little girls. Home Depot said yes and so I will be working on adding some Christmas cheer to their home very soon.
Isn’t that so amazing? I’ve so incredibly grateful for the opportunities that I’ve been afforded through blogging and it makes me so happy when I can also bless someone else with that opportunity. I also decided to make it a girls trip and fly up there with my two daughters. They have no idea so I’m excited to surprise them. And just for clarity sakes, I did buy all of our airplane tickets but it’s so worth it!
LaZBoy
I flew back home from Italy on a Tuesday night and got home close to 11PM. I had to pack another suitcase to leave the next morning around 7AM to North Carolina. LaZBoy flew me and 8 other bloggers to High Point for their Design Dash competition. I’ll get to share more details on another post in the near future as the voting period will start soon.
Basically, we designed our sofa before the event and then had a short amount of time to decorate and style an entire space that was chosen for us. Online voting will start sometime in November and the 1st place winner will receive $10,000. If you vote, you will also have a chance to win $15,000 of LaZBoy products.
Let me just tell you that their furniture and decor is so so good. Gone are the days of bulky leather recliners. Although they still have those, the selection and quality of their products really impressed me. That’s the sofa I designed in the photo and my room was the only space that had built in bookshelves. Some other bloggers were given spaces with incredible architectural details like tall curved windows, beautiful wooden beams, etc. I can’t wait till you see all of them.
Again, I’ll be able to share more in the near future but I wanted to give some information since it was one of the most exciting collaborations I’ve done. LaZBoy went above and beyond and really made this event super special. I feel super blessed to have been a part of such competition because I was in some really good company. I’m honestly not quite sure how I was chosen because I’m literally a shrimp swimming with these big fish bloggers! They are all so so talented!
Anyways, I can’t wait to reveal my space with you all soon! Thank you so much for reading and for all of your kind comments. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Don’t forget daylight savings time!
xoxo,

Thanks for sharing your pictures and stories. Your family and neighbors really have a great time at Halloween – even the “ugly woman.” (ha!). Love all the pictures. Can’t wait to see more of your Lazy Boy pics and what you have done. I’ll be voting.
