This week’s Friday Favorites include my favorite podcast, celebrating my son’s birthday, easiest DIY cookie cake and other random happenings.
Hey everyone, I wanted to share a few things on the blog today because I thought they were too good to keep to myself. I’m linking my Friday Favorites with Andrea over at Momfessionals.
Last week, I discovered a podcast called, “Leading Girls.” I stumbled upon it when I saw that Lysa TerKeurst was one of the people they were interviewing. Two women, Courtney Defeo and Wynter Pitts lead the podcast but recently, Wynter passed away unexpectedly. I could tell that this young mom of 4 girls left behind an amazing legacy. Even though the podcast is designed specifically for moms of daughters, I believe it’s applicable in many ways for moms of sons as well.
Anyways, if you have a daughter and you’re wanting to find some great resources in learning practical ways to raise your girls in the Lord, this is soooo good. I’ve felt so convicted to carry some of the Godly advice and wisdom over to how I parent my kids. I listen to it in the car and at home when I’m working and it has encouraged my heart tremendously. If you have know of any other life giving podcast recommendations, please send them my way!
This past week, we celebrated our son’s 9th birthday. You guys. He literally saved my life yesterday after school. Emmy yelled, “mom, there’s a lizard in our house!” A salamander somehow got into our kitchen and was scurrying everywhere and after a few minutes of running around and trying to catch that little bugger, JJ finally saved the day.
I think this is the third time he’s caught a lizard/salamander in our home. Thank you, Lord for my in home pest control.
Do you want to know how to make the easiest cookie cake?
JJ requested this so I just bought two refrigerated cookie dough and I rolled them flat on a sheet pan. Bake it as normal and voila! I used store bought icing and piped this simple lettering on the cake. I even bought a cake box from Publix so that I could easily transport it to the party. It don’t get any easier than that, people! Okay, I guess you could also buy it but this is way cheaper and I always want to at least semi-make the cake for their birthdays.
I think Jimmy had just as much fun as the kids did!
Did you have a chance to check out my Joann collaboration for my front porch?
Even though it was still pretty warm when I shot and styled this space, I had so much fun using all their products. Also, the shirt I’m wearing here is a part of my Fall wardrobe and it is such a great blouse. It comes in a ton of different colors and it is long enough to cover your bum. It’s on sale for $27 and originally it’s $42.
I also shared a delicious peach banana almond smoothie that you will want to try this weekend. I love a good smoothie recipe.
Just in case you think my kids never makes messes. LOOK AT THIS!
Emmy and her cousin literally created an entire galazy in his room. They drew planets all over the walls, furniture, lamp, etc.
Fun times with the magic eraser folks. Fun times.
We had our respite foster kids over last weekend and it was a sweet time. Jules dressed the girls up as twins for church and they looked so cute!
Lastly, I want to say that my heart goes out to all my friends over on the east coast. I’ve been keeping up with the news and it’s got me super anxious. I’m praying that this storm moves quickly and it loses a lot of strength before it hits the coast.
*Edit: It’s now causing flooding. I just heard from some friends and they are all asking for prayers in regards to the flood and electricity. Praying and thinking of you all!
As always, thank you for reading. Have a safe and blessed weekend.
xoxo,

My gosh, I can’t believe your kids drew on the walls and furniture. I would never expect that from them. 🙂 Mr. Magic Eraser really works, huh? Good to hear. I just purchased some and haven’t tried it yet.
