This week’s Friday Favorites include a life update and some last minute Easter gifts.
Hey friends, my gosh it’s been forever and a day since I shared any sort of update here. Life has been cah-ray-zee. Since January, I’ve been working a lot with staging projects, individual client projects and also lots of really exciting collaborations with some companies. I have a patio reveal coming up soon with Home Depot that I’m so pumped about and a master bedroom refresh that will go live sometime in the near future. I figured I would give somewhat of a life update with sharing some of my Friday Favorites here on the blog. As always, I’m linking up with my friend, Andrea at Momfessionals.
Over a month ago, I attended a blogger conference called WorkBench. It was focused more on heavy DIY and woodworking but I was able to snag a ticket through a friend and since it was in my hometown, I decided to go. I definitely felt somewhat intimidated because I’m no heavy DIY-er but I was really encouraged to be surrounded by other makers.
I love DIY and being around people who are just as passionate about creating something with their hands was really special. In our culture, it may seem archaic to build things from scratch but I think there is a shift happening with people who are unsatisfied with the status quo of buying products and want to create one of a kind, unique items.
Anyways, all that to say that I had a blast and it’s always good for my soul to be around other creatives.
Next week starts the One Room Challenge again! This will be my fourth time participating and this will be my most special project yet. I’m transforming my mom’s bedroom for her 60th birthday gift. My siblings are all pitching in and I will design and execute all of it. Her birthday isn’t until June but I figured with my schedule, it would never get done unless I had some pressure or deadline looming over me. So, I’ll be sharing progress updates on that starting next Thursday.
Easter is this weekend, say what? If you didn’t have a chance to catch my Easter tablescape, you can still find that here on the blog and I have a ton of easy recipes that you can make if you’re hosting brunch or dinner.
Next week is also Spring Break so I will be spending a lot of quality time with Jimmy and the kids. We are soooo looking forward to it.
Jules had her last father daughter dance. Cue the tears. I really did tear up because my first child seems to be growing way too quickly and now she has braces!
I’m so not ready for her to go to middle school next fall.
Fostering Update: We just got connected with a local foster family and we will be providing respite care for a 4.5 year old boy. Our close friends also just received a foster child and we may be helping them as well. I haven’t shared much on this subject only because we were still just waiting. It looks like something will definitely be happening in April! Please pray for us!
Do you make Easter baskets for your kids? I typically don’t but I have made it tradition to buy my kids one of these leather bound books every special holiday. They are so beautiful and most of them are classics. I buy them from Barnes and Noble and they range from $10-$30. If you’re looking for something unique, educational and not candy related, I think these make wonderful gifts. I also found some on Amazon!
This isn’t in any way sponsored but ever since Jimmy lost a ton of weight, we had to basically replace most of his wardrobe and Old Navy has been the store of choice. Jimmy isn’t very picky and I’ve been able to find some really great pieces for him with awesome prices. I know sometimes the quality can be hit or miss but he really loves these particular pants for work. He’s wearing all Old Navy in this photo and I’m wearing a button down from there too. Mine isn’t available anymore but I recently purchased this one and I love the fit.
Oh yeah, the kids just had their piano recital and Emmy performed for the first time last weekend. She’s only 4 but she begged me for lessons and I finally obliged. This girl cracks me up constantly and I am enjoying this age so much because ages 1 and 2 seriously gave me some gray hairs!
I think that’s a wrap! Thanks for reading, friends and today is definitely good Friday because it is only by his wounds we have been set free. Praise the God of Calvary!
I hope you all have a great Easter weekend. So excited to celebrate the risen King!
