Transformation Tuesday: DIY Marble Cheese Boards

February 17, 2015

Hey guys! I know I usually showcase furniture/room changes on Transformation Tuesdays. Today, I’m sharing the most simple DIY transformation known to man. Honestly, I can’t even call it a DIY because there’s only one step and your 3 year old could do this. So people, if crafts aren’t your thang, they are now with this simple transformation.

Have you ever seen one of those nice, marble cheese boards? Um, have you seen how much they cost? Let me tell you.

This small marble cheese board is from Pottery Barn and costs $49.

This one from Willams- Sonoma costs $80.

Now, I don’t know about you but I’m not one to spend $49 or $80 on a cheese board unless it’s on your wedding registry or something. Want to know how you can make your own for about $5-6? Go to the hardware store and find a marble tile. They are usually in the back of the store in boxes. It will most likely measure 12×12. My tile cost around $2-$3.

There were a few different colors and I chose the brightest white. Make sure you clean it well with some mild soap because it will be dusty.

IMG_7879 You will need to buy one pack of these rubber sticky feet. Sorry, I misplaced the packaging and I can’t remember what they’re called. #bloggerfail

Place the clear bumper feet on all four corners on the backside. The tile is heavy so be careful handling it. Now, flip it over and see how your floor tile has transformed into a serving board! haha #tooeasy #itoldyou

On Valentines Day, our sweet husbands cooked and arranged for us have a cocktail hour so we could enjoy the quiet afternoon while they prepared dinner. Sara’s husband, Young, arranged the beautiful appetizers on the marble board!

It was all so very delicious!

If you’re looking for a cheaper alternative for a marble board, try this out.

You could even use the marble board to display dessert like this chocolate quinoa banana bread. Just take this recipe and add in 2 bananas when you blend the wet ingredients. It’s a much healthier version of banana bread.

Now, go and make the easiest DIY craft ever! Hope you’re staying warm!

I miss her big giant hugs, random crazy dance moves, impromptu jams on the piano, base guitar, harmonica, and ukulele. It’s a mix of excitement, happiness and sadness and I’m letting myself feel it all. I catch myself getting weepy throughout the day but I feel a deep sense of gratitude for this new season and what she’ll get to experience.
Aside from the rug, the girls styled their space and it turned out so cute. I love that she’s rooming with her friend from 1st grade. How can my child be in college?!😭😢
