Today marks 13 years of marriage for these two crazies. I feel like we just celebrated twelve years the other day! Only God knows how thankful for I am for this guy.
Look at us so young, clueless, but full of joy and excitement for what was to come. 1 Corinthians probably contains the most popular verses when you think of marriage. I’ve read, studied, memorized verses from it for years. But it’s really amazing when God breathes new life into the same verses at different seasons of your life.
1 Corinthians 13:4-8 Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away.
2015 was a crazy year full of ups and downs. We experienced a lot of transition and changes from both sides of our families. We hosted friends/family for extended periods of time in our home. It was a year of giving up my rights to a lot of things like my time, money, and even my house. I’m not telling you this to get a pat on my back because I realize I still hold tight to a lot of these things. It was a year of drawing painful boundaries with relationships that needed to be changed and given up to the Lord. It was a year of stripping things from my identity in order for God to reveal my true identity. The older I get, the more I gain a deeper understanding of my identity but I learn there’s still so much refining yet to be done. It was a year of discovering a cancer mass in my dad’s body. (He’s cancer free now) IT WAS A YEAR!
BUT…. it was a year where God redeemed, restored, and transformed broken relationships. It was a year of God answering prayers left and right and providing more than I thought I needed. He poured out his grace so abundantly through his word, community, and through my sweet husband. Jimmy helped me to rejoice in the truth in times where I heard lies and thought certain situations were hopeless. He was patient and more than kind to encourage my heart, pray over me, and bring home bouquets of flowers just because that’s the way his heart beats. He doesn’t insist on his own way but considers my needs above his and is the opposite of anything rude, arrogant, irritable or resentful. He helped me to bear, believe, hope, and endure all things because that’s what Godly love does.
So today, I praise God for 13 years.
Here’s to many more years of this.
And this
Hopefully this
Definitely this
Love you, babe!

So sweet! Congratulations on 13 years!!! If you ever need a sitter to celebrate I’m happy to help (with a 6 month old I’m not going anywhere for a while;)). Seriously though, God bless and may you have many, many, more years to celebrate together. And may Jimmy’s love for you reflect Christ’s love for the church.
