Hey everyone! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your loved ones. We celebrated at my SIL’s house and we feasted on so much good food. My pants are a bit tighter after Thanksgiving, a trip to the beach, and hosting a baby shower but it’s all worth it! My favorite picture was when I caught Emmy holding both of her grandmothers’ hands and praying. Be still my heart! I know that the holidays can be tough for many who are experiencing loss, brokenness, and other difficult challenges. My prayer is that you can look up to Jesus as he is the only one who gives us hope, joy, and peace through all circumstances. We can hold onto that truth that he never forsakes us and that alone can make us full of gratitude to our saviour.
Yesterday was the first Advent Sunday. My small group just recently started an advent devotional at shereadstruth.com. I highly recommend it if you are thinking of doing one. There’s a phone app for it for $2 but you can also read it for free on their website. As Christmas quickly approaches, I really want to prepare my heart as I know I’m easily distracted by the busyness this season brings.
Right before Thanksgiving, Jimmy and I took a last minute trip to Myrtle Beach. Even though it was only 2 nights, it was exactly what we needed. We realized we hadn’t vacationed without kids in about 4.5 years. We made a commitment from now on to do it at least once or twice a year.
We drove our minivan there and it was funny because it was so different not having anyone in the back whining, asking for snacks, and constantly interrupting our conversations. We laughed hard, sang and danced in the car, filled our bellies, slept in, and just enjoyed our time doing whatever whenever we wanted. Okay, the dancing part was just me since Jimmy was driving but this is what happens when you’re kid free, people! We came back refreshed and ready to love on our kids again.
This picture was taken at Captain George’s Seafood Buffet. If you’re ever in Myrtle Beach, you MUST eat at this buffet. I ate so much crab it’s not funny. #fullheart #fullbellies
I’m super excited to share a bunch of Christmas posts with you soon and starting this Wednesday, I’m teaming up with some great bloggers. For three consecutive weeks, we will share Christmas home tours, entertaining tips, crafts, and all things related to Christmas. Here are the other ladies that are part of the tour!
We hope these posts inspire your creativity as you prepare your hearts and homes for Christmas. Now you know why I started decorating the house before Thanksgiving!
Have a great Monday, friends!
