Our vacation inspired bathroom is complete and now it’s time to finally enjoy it!
First of all, words can NOT express my gratitude to all you beautiful people. Thank you for your votes, words of encouragement and many messages sent our way during the Jeffrey Court competition. The 6 weeks of renovation were hard yet so so empowering. Our vacation inspired bathroom is complete and it is everything I imagined it would be.
This post is sponsored by Minted but all thoughts, styling and cheesy heartfelt words are my own.
Last Thursday, they announced the winners for the Jeffrey Court competition and I was so stinking nervous all day long. To tell you the truth, I didn’t enter into this competition with the intent of winning. There were 15 of us and I figured the chances were pretty slim. However, I knew it would be an amazing opportunity and it would also force us to learn how to tile which is a skill I had been wanting to take on for over a year now.
By week 4 when I was in the top 4, I started to think maybe I had a small chance. By week 5 when I was tied for first, it hit me that I actually could really win this whole thing. The scores are given by 4 judges every week but it was also in combination with votes from the general public. That’s where I started to harass all of you to help me! Thank you, again!
The judges were so kind to call and congratulate us and they had so many wonderful things to say about our bathroom renovation. If you didn’t catch my kids’ reaction to our win, you have to watch it on my FB page. It is pure JOY captured on my phone. They were so excited about our win especially because the award for winning was a dream vacation. Emmy went to school the next day telling everyone we were going to Hawaii. We are NOT going to Hawaii. We actually haven’t even decided the destination yet!
The overall main vision I had for our bathroom was creating an oasis. Jimmy and I went to Italy a few months ago with our best friends and it was the trip of a lifetime. We talk about that trip often because it was really that wonderful and we can’t wait to return one day. We love traveling and so instead of waiting for that next big trip, I wanted to create that feeling and atmosphere in our bathroom.
Minted partnered with me in adding some special pieces of art in our bathroom and one of these was a framed photograph of Venice from one of their artists. This one is called “the honeymoon” and the muted colors and tones are quite lovely. Venice is truly one of the most beautiful places I have ever experienced and so this photo brings back so many good memories. I kept this wall simple with my hanging baskets and art and I love the simplicity.
The other piece from Minted is this abstract art, “balance no.2” that I immediately felt drawn to when seeing it online. The colors are the perfect combo working with the rest of the space. You can even change out the color scheme so that they work for your room. I chose a simple black metal frame around the print.
The frames are great quality and I love that you can choose so many different options from the color, size and type of frame to the type of border and mat. You can even choose canvas or have the art unframed. The options are endless and there are even speciality frames from wood to metal borders. What I love most is that everything Minted sells is designed by independent artists. You get to help support individual artists every time you buy a piece of their art.
The abstract art looks perfect working with the backdrop from the butterfly wallpaper and complements the dark green cabinetry.
Art has the ability to evoke emotion, express creativity and bring life into a space. As I’ve become more passionate about interior design, I’ve also grown to appreciate art more and more. Every room can benefit from some work of art and bathrooms are no exception.
It has been so nice having our bathroom back after all the demo. Getting ready in here every morning has been so enjoyable. After sending the kids off to school, I bring up my hot lemon water and get ready in here all alone. I usually listen to music or a podcast and I take my time on days I don’t have an early appointment. It’s truly a gift to savor small moments and it’s a great way to start off the day with a heart of gratitude. Sorry to sound so incredibly cheesy but I am just so thankful that we get to enjoy the fruits of our hard labor.
I will be sharing some more tutorials soon with some of the projects that we did in this space so stay tuned! If you want to see a video of how I used baskets or organize everything in the space, I shared an IG TV video today so be sure to check that out.
Lastly, please go check out my friend Stephanie’s bathroom makeover. She was the one that tied with me till the end and her space turned out gorgeous. We became friends during the competition and she is a mega talented interior designer.
Thank you again for following along in this crazy DIY journey.
xoxo,
