Happy 2018, friends!! Here are the top ten popular posts from 2017.
Before I share my top ten popular posts from 2017, I wanted to say thank you. I’m not sure how it happened so quickly but Love Your Abode just passed it’s 3 year blog anniversary. I remember pushing the publish button for the first time 3 years ago and telling my husband to not tell anyone! He encouraged and gently pushed me to share it with the world and I’m so glad I listened to him. What has started out as a place to hold all of my recipes to pass down to my children has grown to something a bit more than that. Through this blog, I my passion for interior design surfaced and because of it, I’ve had some amazing opportunities to work with different brands as well as clients. If you told me a few years ago, I would share interior design projects and work, I wouldn’t have believed it. So it’s fun to look back on these past 3 years to see how God orchestrated all of these wonderful opportunities.
I’m truly thankful for this platform and this little online space where I get to share how my faith intersects with me being a mom, wife, friend, diy-er. When I receive a comment from a reader saying that they made something because they were inspired by my project, I’m truly amazed and encouraged. I’m a firm believer that every one has the capacity to make their house a home no matter the size of the home or budget.
I’m truly thankful that you visit this space and I hope that you continue to find it a place of inspiration, encouragement and laughter. Here are the top posts from 2017 from my readers.
1. Transitional Family Room Makeover
We transformed our family room almost exactly one year ago with the help of Home Depot. We still love the outcome of this room and not a whole lot has changed since then.
Another big makeover was our main level bathroom. It seemed you guys loved it too. I worked hard painting the walls, tiles and cabinet so a lot of love and time was poured into this space.
Looks like you guys love room makeovers because the laundry room reveal also made it to the top. We transformed our laundry room sponsored by Blanco and it went from total drab to fab in less than a month.
If you’re new to the blog, our family is in the process of becoming a foster family. We actually just finished going through the long process of doing the classes, home studies and getting our home physically ready. We are now officially just in the waiting stage of getting approved by the state. I shared our fostering journey and you can read more about that in part 1 and part 2.
5. 14 things I’ve learned about marriage
I shared this post around our 14th anniversary last year. Isn’t this family photo the best? Jimmy and I are about to celebrate our 15th next month!
6. Merry and Bright Holiday Home Tour
My annual Christmas tour was also a top ten. I literally just pulled down the outside decorations down today and man was it a chore! The garland was so messy and I swear I’ll never do it again but seem to change my mind and still do it every Christmas. Thank goodness, I only have to clean it up once a year. You can still catch part 1, 2 and 3 of the Merry and Bright Holiday Home tour.
I had so much fun helping my best friend, Unchong transform her master bedroom. Helping people create spaces in their home that they love is the best feeling. Doesn’t it look so relaxing? They sure do need it considering they work so hard all the time. Her husband, Craig takes our yearly Christmas photos and he also captured this shot of their bedroom.
8. Evolution of a Breakfast Table
This table has gone through a few transformations. When we originally bought our current house, we didn’t have much furniture since we were coming from a much smaller townhome. I found this nice solid wooden set from a garage sale and I made it fit our style. This just shows that you can really create your home on any budget. You may not be able to afford the dining table of your dreams, but you can shop smart and make it fit your style on a budget.
This past year, I worked with Hayneedle to share a post on styling shelves. I shared a few tips on how you can style your own shelves. Bookshelves are one of my favorite things to style and you can do so much with them.
The last popular post was the one where I shared how Jimmy lost a bunch of weight. His goal was to lose 20 lbs in 2017 but he actually ended up losing more than 30 lbs! We ate badly during the holidays so we just started back on paleo-ish today. If you’re thinking about getting healthy as a new year’s resolution, I highly recommend doing something similar. When I eat clean, I feel so much better and I have more energy. My skin looks better and Jimmy’s eczema flairs up less. I also shared a Paleo FAQ post so if you have any questions, most likely it’s answered in that post. We have 3 kids and we’re about to start fostering so our health is really important to us. We need to be healthy for ourselves and for our children.
Well that’s a wrap! Thank you so much for your support and for reading along. It seems that my readers love to read about room transformations as well as some personal things that are going on in our lives.
If there is anything you’d like to see more of, please let me know! Do you want to see more healthy recipes, DIY tips, etc?
Happy New Year, friends!
