Here are some simple tips for creating a cozy office
I just completed an office space for a client in the senior center and I wanted to share the reveal. This was a pretty small and simple project but I wanted to share some ideas and tips for creating a cozy office. Whether you work from home or in a corporate setting, these tips can help you create the coziest office space for yourself.
BEFORE
My job was to create a neutral living area for guests along with some accent chairs in front of my client’s desk. I was working with a budget so I tweaked it so I could also include a pair of bookshelves on one wall. My client gave me complete trust and her only desire was that it would be neutral and beautiful!
AFTER
Tip 1: Create an area of rest
If your office allows for it, create a little area of rest or place to kick up your feet. We are working long hours sitting in front of the computer and breaks are necessary. I imagine in a home office, this could be a great area to read or even have your kids come visit and hang out with you while working.
Tip 2: Nothing says cozy like textiles
Make sure to throw in pillows, rugs, blankets and drapes. Textiles and fabrics really add layers of warmth to any space and your office deserves coziness too!
Tip 3: Include Plants
I always include plants to every space I style. I prefer living plants but I know not everyone wants to deal with them. If you prefer faux, choose plants or greenery that look more real than fake. This small snake plant look super real doesn’t it?!
Tip 4: Comfort is key
The faux leather couch is the perfect size for this office. It leans more cream than white but it’s super cute and at a great price point. The small mid century coffee table fits nicely in front of the sofa and the caning detail adds a nice contrast to the wood. It also comes in black!
I’m so digging these two accent chairs from Target. The grid pattern adds soft detail to the chairs and I threw some pretty woven pillows for added comfort. The chairs are comfortable which is important for clients that come into this office space. Comfort doesn’t have to be sacrificed for style when they look like this!
Tip 5: Provide Storage
I added these two ladder bookshelves to the wall. My client can add important documents and office supplies inside the baskets. They fill up the wall and create a nice moment while still providing some practical needs.
I added a beveled mirror so my client can take a quick look before heading to the next meeting.
Here’s a last look at the BEFORE AND AFTER!
