I’m welcoming the new season with a fun summer home tour blog hop with some of my amazing blogger friends.
Summer is in full swing and I have joined a group of talented bloggers to share a fun summer home tour blog hop. We will share how we refreshed our homes for the summer months. The blog hop tour started Friday and ends today. I’ll share the links at the bottom of the post so you can visit all the other talented bloggers’ homes that were shared all three days.
Today, I’ll be sharing a few spaces in our main living areas since those are the only places that I’ve spruced up for the Summer. Plus, I have 3 kids. You don’t really need or want to see ALL the other areas. ha! #keepinitreal
Here are a few other home tours I did recently.
This is what you see when you walk into our home and into our foyer.
I love changing this area with the different seasons and holidays. I decided to bring out some of my collected blue and white pieces and create a vignette with them grouped together. I love collecting ginger jars and smaller interesting pieces and these were all thrifted from different places throughout the years. It really is a part of my signature look!
These pieces are so classic and I believe fit well into any style of home.
As you walk in past the foyer, you will see our family room.
I like to change up our mantle and I decorated it with some old books, brass candlesticks and another blue and white jar holding a fake orchid. The DIY book wreath is still up there and is a great focal piece.
Recently, we switched some sofas around the house and I’m loving the new set up because we were able to add another seat for one more person. Since we have people over often, it’s important for me to maximize seating so it’s comfortable for as many friends and family as possible.
When you get sick of the set up in a room in your home, try moving pieces of furniture around to change the layout of the space. It can completely change the atmosphere of the entire room. It can also allow your space and furniture to function even better. I blame my mom for my FMS aka Furniture Moving Syndrome. She made me move so many pieces around with her as a kid. I also saw her water her gazillion houseplants growing up in our home. Well, look who I became?! Ha, thanks Mom!
We switched our Ikea chair with this one from the guest room. I often see my oldest daughter cuddled up on this chair in the corner during her reading time.
Right behind one of our sofas is a large console table. I love decorating my tiered stand and decided to use it to display a bunch of real and fake succulents and plants for the summer. I truly am the crazy plant lady. I don’t care if they’re real or fake, I love them all!
The family room is an open space next to our large kitchen which holds a giant sized island and also our breakfast area.
Our kitchen went through a makeover a little over a year ago when I decided to paint our cabinets. Call me crazy but it completely changed the look and feel of the space and was worth every sweat, tear and sore muscle. You can find that makeover here.
Those stools used to be black and I gave them a farmhouse makeover.
Trays are great for grouping all sorts of items together.
After 4 years, I can’t believe that my hydrangeas are finally growing! If you love hydrangeas, my recommendation is to go with limelight hydrangeas. They grow the best and are the lowest maintenance. They are tolerant of high heat especially in GA. Here are some I cut for the kitchen. I loved getting fresh cut flowers all summer long from my garden and my neighbor’s!
Thanks so much for touring my house on the Summer blog hop. Today’s the last day but I hope you’ll check out the other links from Friday and Saturday! Please follow along on Instagram by checking the hashtag #summerhomerefresh.
