This step by step summer tablescape shows easy ways to prepare for summer entertaining.
Hi friends, hope you’re having a great week. Today, I’m joining a bunch of my blogger friends to share some our Summer tips in the home. If you’re coming from Dara at Hoodcreek Log Cabin, welcome! I just loved everything about her summer porch refresh. I could sit out there all day if I had a porch like that. If you’re needing help with creating a tablescape then this post is for you. I’m sharing a step by step summer tablescape ideas to help prepare you for that perfect gathering.
Recently at Costco, I saw gorgeous peonies for sale and decided that I must create a tablescape with these gorgeous blooms. You can only buy peonies for one season so I had to take advantage of their beauty while they lasted. Creating a tablescape doesn’t have to be complicated so I shared some simple tips in creating your own at home for that next special gathering. I think tablescapes take the dining experience up a notch because you put in that extra care and attention to detail for your guests.
Here’s a simple tutorial to creating your own.
Step 1: Place down a table linen and present your centerpiece. I placed a vase full of these gorgeous peonies and mixed them with fresh cut hydrangea blooms from my own yard. The colors just scream summer. A centerpiece doesn’t have to be flowers. You could use candles, lanterns, plants, etc.
If you want to try your hand at creating a flower arrangement, you can check out my step by step mixed floral arrangement or floral centerpiece.
Step 2: Place chargers on the table and your main plate. Chargers are larger decorative base settings for your dishes. Don’t eat off of them as they’re not food safe!
I used a gold patterned charger and placed white dishes on top.
Step 3: Place folded napkins under each large plate and then add another smaller salad/appetizer plate on top. This is a great way to mix and add colors and textures to your table setting.
This set of 4 linens were on clearance at Anthropologie recently and I snatched them up. I love that they are different colors.
Step 4: Add your stemware. I placed these vintage inspired pink glasses along with the stemless gold wine glasses.
Step 5: Place your flatware. I used these gold utensils to match the rest of the gold theme on the table.
Step 6: You can stop after step 5 but I decided to add a little something to each place setting with a peony bud in a mini vase.
Pretty simple right? I’m pretty sure the flowers steal the show am I right? I only bought one bunch and there were so many blooms!
Hope you enjoyed these simple tips. Be sure to pin this image so you can come back to it when you need some help creating your own tablescape.
