Here are my tips to an organized make up drawer.
Summer time is in full swing! I have been busy working on a content heavy project for a fun company, along with trying to keep some type of schedule with the kids at home. I’ll be able to share more about that fun collaboration next month. After turning that content in, I was itching to do a simple organizing task. This literally took me less than 15 minutes and now I finally have an organized make up drawer.
I know. Don’t judge me please. After my bathroom renovation, everything got super organized except for this one drawer. It has been staring at me every day when I get ready only for me to keep putting it off. Well, today was the day people! I not only tackled the drawer, but I even documented it. Here are simple tips to organizing your own make up drawer or any area that looks anything like this.
Step 1: Empty out everything
I took everything out because there was a bunch of items that needed to be tossed. If I hadn’t used it in a couple of months, it was time to go. This was also a really great time to get rid of any expired products.
Step 2: Clean all the items
My trays needed to be wiped down along with some of the products. Naturally, lip stick and pencil shavings got all over them (or is that just me?) and they needed to be cleaned. I bought the clear trays from Walmart a few years ago and they were very inexpensive.
Step 3: Group like items together
I really like lipstick, can you tell? I put similar items together and placed the most used products on one side. I like to know exactly where everything is so this keeps it nice and tidy.
Step 4: Add something fun
I used the leftover wallpaper I had to line all the drawers and cabinets on my side to give it a little pizzazz. Jimmy didn’t want that extra touch. I have no idea why he wouldn’t want tropical paper lining on all of his drawers. It’s so beautiful! Ha!
I’m so happy looking inside this drawer now. I used what I had, and it was a quick project that made a drastic change. The best part is that I no longer have stress looking at that dang hot mess.
While I’m on the subject of make up, here are some of my favorite products that I use on the regular. I already talked about skin care in another post but I have to tell you about my favorite homemade toner that I’ve been using for 2 months now.
Ready for it? It’s APPLE CIDER VINEGAR! I live by this stuff and will chug it every time I feel a cold coming my way. The only downfall to using this on your face is that it stinks so bad. I have been hearing about the benefits of using it on your face and so I put it to the test. It has anti-inflammatory benefits and it helps balance out your skin’s pH levels. It can also prevent some future skin complications or damage.
I poured a 1 to 1 ratio of ACV and water in an amber pump. Every morning and night, I pump some into a cotton ball and use it just like a toner. Again, this stuff is so so stank. But after I apply some moisturizer, the smell slowly starts to disappear. Jimmy LOVES kissing me right after I apply this stuff. #issajoke
I have been getting hormonal acne on my chin the last few months and it was really bad around the time we were doing the bathroom renovation. I’m sure the stress of it wasn’t helping. I literally would get a zit on my chin every single time I would ovulate or have my period. That was twice a month and they lasted about a week. My cheeks were also getting seriously irritated and bumpy. Since I started using the ACV, it has been a month since I’ve had a zit. My cheeks have also completely cleared up and feel as smooth as a baby’s butt! Okay, not that smooth but I’m pretty happy with it. I also started applying this product called Centella right after using the ACV. I put a tiny dab of it on my chin and follow up with my regular moisturizer.
Okay, onto some of my other favorite products. I’m really loving this CC cream foundation. It has a high SPF but it also goes on super creamy and has great coverage. I love that it is hydrating and not heavy at all. I wear the “light” color and I have been using it for the past two months. You should still wear proper sunscreen under your makeup and I have been raving about this one for years now. I just got my friends to use it and they love it too.
Here are a few other products I discovered and am loving. The super slim eye liner is my go-to eye liner. I was using Stila for a long time but this one is comparable in quality but less than half the price of the Stila version. The Benefit mascara is also a recent fav and I prefer testing out smaller versions to see if I like the product for future purchases.
My lips get super dry even in the summer and I have to use this sugar lip scrub 2 x a week to exfoliate and condition. It does wonders along with the Bite hydrating balm. Jimmy and I put this on our lips every single night before we go to bed and we can’t live without it especially in the colder months.
Lastly, I have been loving these lip quenchers. They add a subtle color but make your lips feel and stay soft. The hourglass blush is a new find that I’ve been using on my cheeks and my perfume of choice is the aromatherapy oil roller bottle from Anthropologie in the Elixir #3 scent.
I get super overwhelmed at Sephora and sometimes just need someone to tell me what I will love so I hope you find this post helpful.
Well, that’s all for my favorite make up products! If you use ACV on your face, lmk! Stinky faces unite! You can also check out the video I posted today on my IG TV to see how I organized everything. Thanks for reading, friends! Hope you are all having a wonderful summer.
