We gave our little homemade gifts some pizzazz with these fun DIY star gift tags.
This post is sponsored by Joann but all thoughts, opinions and cute little 5 year old are my own. One of our favorite traditions during Christmas time is making delicious goodies to gift our neighbors. We have made and gifted homemade marshmallows, hot cocoa in a jar, rum cake, salted caramel and chocolate chip cookies. We created these fun gift tags using the Cricut from Joann, which is the new Cricut Explore Air 2 in Cobalt and exclusive to JOANN.
The gift tags were so easy to make and I’m trying to incorporate crafts into some of my projects so that I can include the kids in some good ole fashion DIY.
Traditions aren’t the meaning of Christmas but they sure can be a catalyst to creating quality time with your family. It also keeps us intentional about giving to others during this busy season which is something I’ve been thinking about a lot.

First, let me highlight key features of the Cobalt Air 2.

As you can see, this machine has a ton of amazing capabilities. This is my first Cricut machine and I’m still learning how to use it. I foresee a ton of crafting possibilities in the future. I already have a slew of ideas brewing in my mind.
Since I’m a newbie, I decided to start small and not get overly ambitious. We made easy DIY star gift tags. Ok, let me rephrase. The Cricut Cobalt Air 2 MADE the DIY star gift tags. We created these to adorn our Christmas boxes full of goodies but this idea can be used all year round to add a personalization to any gifts.
Here’s what I did.
The Cricut already has templates set so I just made different size stars on my computer and had the machine cut out a bunch on an assortment of cardstock.
The sharp knife is precise and long gone are the days of spending hours cutting meticulous corners on paper crafts. I remember the hours I spent making banners by hand because the cutting felt like light years. This expedites that process and it’s amazing!
You lay the paper on top of the blue mat that has a sticky surface. They both glide into the Cricut machine and voila. All the stars are cut and all you have to do is peel! I can’t believe how easy it is.
We glued different sizes of stars on top of each other to create a layered look and punched a hole at the top. I just tied it with pretty velvet ribbon. We used the back to write a lil message to our recipients to enjoy the yummy goodies we made for them.
This is a great craft with kids because they can help write messages, glue the stars and most importantly, go and personally gift these to neighbors.
Would you not be thrilled to receive a box of goodies from this precious face? She’s excited about it and so am I.
Thanks for reading, friends and happy crafting!! Thanks to Cricut and Joann for rekindling our love for crafting again!
