This DIY Christmas garland is an easy and inexpensive way to add that beautiful greenery to your home.
Every year, I add my DIY Christmas garland to my mantle and front door. In the past, I’ve even hung it on our staircase. This year, I took a break from the stairs but I added them both to the living room mantle and front entrance. It just adds that nice Christmas touch and it’s very easy to do.
If you want to create your own, all you need to do is start with a faux garland first. This provides a good base and structure for the live greenery. You need a good pair of scissors and some floral wire. If you have any cypress or similar trees in your yard or your neighbor’s, go and clip them and use them for your garland. That’s exactly what I did for these. Make sure you ask your neighbor first!
Here is a video on how to create your own mantle garland. This one is really easy and requires no wire or hooks.
This is what I came up with.
For my front entrance, I have picture hanging hooks that I keep up all year long. I attach the faux garland first on those hooks and start to add the fresh greenery. I also add the floral wire to keep it nice and sturdy. Here’s a simple video that I made on my Instagram stories. I compiled them and added it to my youtube.
Here is the final product.
I hope you found this post helpful! Tomorrow, I’ll be back with part 2 of the Merry and Bright Holiday Home Tour. If you missed last week, you can find that post here.
Have a wonderful day, friends!
