Sometimes a desk switcharoo can change or make your office
I just shared my office wall update this week and since then, there’s been another change! Jules has been asking for another desk since she was using our old 18 year old one. It was old and a little too small for what she needed. The ivory writing desk I had been using was going to be perfect for her space in terms of size and color. That meant I needed to look for another one to fit my small office wall. I guess this post is more like a desk change than a desk switcharoo but oh well.
Here’s what it looked like yesterday!
The new desk arrived yesterday and Jules wanted to promptly put it together. It was really easy to assemble and it actually works even better than my previous ivory one! This new one is slightly larger filling the small wall which gives me more surface area and drawer space.
Here’s how that same ivory desk looks in Jules’ room. She also has one narrow wall where she likes to place her desk and this fits perfectly there. The size, color, and drawers are exactly what she needed. She can do homework, art or her nails and make-up on this desk.
She loves changing and creating little collages on the wall above her desk.
We recently gave her bedroom a makeover with the trim and paint. You can find that blog post here. Hmm looks like it’s time to change out that trash liner, Jules!
Here’s how the new desk looks in my office. It has a gorgeous color and design making it neutral yet still stylish and sleek. The price point is so good for the quality and size. It’s day one and I love working on it.
It comes in two different colors and I went with Bishop Oak which has a natural wood tone. It is 47.38 inches wide which was afforded me a few inches more in desk space from the ivory one which was 42 inches.
It’s made from engineered wood and rests on two open sled legs with a connecting stretcher bar for additional support. The pull-out drawers have linen-inspired panels. The two built-in USB power ports transform this desk into a charging station for mobile devices.
I needed an extension cord and Jimmy brought this one. He said it fit my design aesthetic and that I should hang it on the wall as part of my art. What a funny guy. #howdare
Instead, I used a basket to hold the extension cord and all other cords. I need to still clean it up a little more because I hate seeing a bunch of cords everywhere so I’ll get to that this weekend. This little desk switcharoo situation was a pleasant surprise. If you’re in need of a desk, both of these are awesome options. I have loved the ivory desk and am so glad Jules will get many years out of it. And I’m super happy with this new desk in my office space. It provides ample space for my monitor and utilizes the width of the wall to the maximum.
Thanks for reading, friends, and be sure to stop by tomorrow for my Friday Favorite Five!
