EMMY RECEIVED SOME FUN UPDATES TO CREATE THE SWEETEST TWEEN GIRLS BEDROOM MAKEOVER
My sweetest baby girl just turned 9 and I decided it was the perfect time to give her a tween girls’ bedroom makeover. She shared a bedroom with her big sis for years and now that she has her own room again, we needed to make some adjustments. The bunk bed was moved to the bonus room to provide beds for friends and family since we got rid of our guest room during the pandemic. With family visiting us again, we really needed to add some comfortable places for sleeping. My friends at The Home Depot partnered with me to give our Emmy a room makeover and we were able to find the most amazing furniture and home decor pieces. Did you know you can find great quality home decor and furniture that’s only available on homedepot.com?
This post is sponsored by The Home Depot but all thoughts, styling, and cute kid are my own.
Let’s start with the BEFORE!
When we first moved into our home 10 years ago, this bedroom was bright neon green. It was fluorescent green and not easy on the eyes. My sister and I painted the room pink and purple per Jules’ request. Eventually, I re-applied a peel-and-stick wallpaper that was removed from the dining room. I allowed Emmy to choose a paint color after we narrowed it down to 3 choices. I also decided to give myself more work because I like to do that sort of thing quite often and installed beadboard and trim on all the walls.
AFTER!!!
We chose this gorgeous moody pink called, Rose Pottery from Behr. We went with an eggshell sheen and I painted from the baseboards all the way up to the top of the walls. I wanted a really dramatic cocoon-like room so I also painted the trim and doors the same color. The deep mauve pink is a beautiful sophisticated tone and really elevates the previous light pink aesthetic.
The Lucia grey/sunset stain-resistant rug from LoiLoi adds a soft neutral foundation to the room. Did you know The Home Depot carries beautiful high-quality bedding? I chose this jersey knit white quilt and pillowcase from The Company Store and layered it with an Egyptian cotton pink coverlet. The Caspian natural wood and seagrass twin bed brings in an organic and coastal vibe making the room look and feel casual yet cozy. We even ordered a new 10-inch mattress for Emmy and she has raved about her comfortable bed.
The simple white and gold nightstand from StyleWell has a small drawer that’s perfect for holding a couple of books that Emmy is currently reading before bedtime.
The blue and white 96-inch floral drapes are super high quality and have a heavy weight to them. The blue plays off all the pink and adds a nice pattern to the bold solid color throughout the room. I recommend letting your drapes slightly kiss the floor and hang them out as wide and as tall as possible.
It was also the perfect time to replace the old boob light with this gorgeous Hunter fan. It’s so hard to find a good-looking fan and this one is both functional and beautiful. I love the gold details and the vintage-inspired round globe light has a dimmer so you can control the setting.
I was really excited to create a homework/craft station for Emmy. She is my little artist and is constantly creating art every single day. The black bentwood chair is no longer available but this gray color comes in a pair.
This gorgeous campaign desk from The Home Decorator’s Collection has enough drawers to store a bunch of office supplies and has a large surface area for her to use for homework and artwork.
I added a few hooks in the corner of her room to hold some bags and her Home Depot apron. It’s just all too adorable don’t you agree?
I’m so glad we painted the doors and all the trim the same color.
The black arched vintage-inspired mirror is perfect because a room always needs some black to ground the room. The large dark gray resin lamp, brown leather storage tote, and wooden decorative box are just a few gorgeous decor pieces you can find online.
Emmy and I are thrilled with the results and she is so happy! She hasn’t stopped gushing about it.
Thanks so much for following along on this super special makeover for my little girl. When I was installing the beadboard, she was in awe of the work that was being put into the space. Since I’ve never installed beadboard, I learned new skills and felt a tremendous amount of empowerment after I completed it. I am passionate about instilling in my kids the gift of creativity so that they can push themselves to learn things they have never done before. I’m really proud of this bedroom and it’s been such a joy watching her use it every day.
The Home Depot carries so many different options for home decor and furnishings and I love that it’s so easy to create a beautiful room like this one by shopping for everything online and having it directly shipped to my home.
Thanks for reading, friends! Please feel free to add any questions after this post and I’ll be happy to answer them.
