All you need is some paint for a simple dresser update
Emmy’s room has this white dresser that we purchased from Ashley Furniture almost 8 years ago. I don’t like buying matching bedroom sets but that’s what we did when Jules needed some furniture. Here’s how I spruced up this area in Emmy’s room and gave a simple dresser update with some paint.
Before:
Here’s what the dresser looked like before the simple update. This is one of those pieces that I would probably never paint because it’s a glossy finish and it’s not real wood. However, I knew I could give the hardware a simple refresh.
Here’s a tip to painting your hardware. Take a box or styrofoam and poke holes for your hardware to sit. This will allow you to have a nice even finish on the knobs.
I love using this spray shelter for all of my smaller spray painting projects. I was going to use a gold rub-n-buff finish but I ran out and decided to just use what I had at home. You can’t go wrong with black! Look!! It’s like I bought brand new hardware.
I also decided to give this old ornate mirror a makeover. There were a bunch of areas where the bronze finish was peeling off.
Jules and I decided to give the mirror a white coat of paint to give it a completely new look. We have been doing a bunch of projects together during this quarantine.
It took a good amount of time painting this because of all the crevices. Thank goodness, I had an extra pair of hands. Ready for the AFTER?
The knobs were a gamechanger! Add a little styling and some hydrangeas from the yard and we have a completely new dresser area.
The mirror looks perfect here and matches the feminine aesthetic of the room. I’m so excited about our limelight hydrangeas that started blooming last week! You can check this post that has 5 easy tips for growing hydrangeas.
A simple decorative box holds a few of Emmy’s trinkets and treasures.
I think she loves it!
The best part is this update cost me nothing! I hope this project shows you a simple update does not have to cost anything and it can really elevate the overall look of a piece of furniture or mirror.
