Hubby turned Forty

January 8, 2018

AHHH my hubby turned forty!!

I’m a day late but I could not post about the fact that my hubby turned forty yesterday. It’s a pretty significant birthday so here’s a short and sweet shout out to my main squeeze. You may remember, he set a goal last January in 2017 to lose 20 lbs before he turned 40. Well, he surpassed it and he looks so good! You can find that post called, “Going Paleo” on the blog. We still try to eat paleo-ish during the week because we feel great eating this way. We do cheat a bit on the weekends because ya know, we still gotta live a little.

Our oldest daughter let us sleep in on Jimmy’s birthday and then surprised us with a full breakfast! She cooked eggs, heated our toast (flourless) and even cut the fruit all nice and pretty! She brewed coffee and tea and had it all set out on the table. It wasn’t even my birthday but it sure felt like it!

Some days, you wish your kids can stay small just a bit longer and then you experience days like this and love that they are growing more mature and independent. I have waited for this moment a long time, friends!

Jules even insisted on making the cake and it was paleo, people! She made my paleo banana chocolate chip bread but made it into a cake. She poured paleo melted dark chocolate all over the top to create a hardened chocolate crust and ya’ll it was freaking delicious. If you haven’t made this recipe yet, you need to do it.

We celebrated with our closest friends one night at a Japanese restaurant and then celebrated with our families on Jimmy’s actual birthday. We’re actually planning a pretty big trip at the end of the year with some of our friends to celebrate a bunch of us turning 40 and hitting big wedding anniversaries.

He is seriously the happiest guy ever. If you know Jimmy personally, the person he is in public is the same exact guy at home.

I just realized yesterday that I have celebrated 22 of his birthdays. Wow, crazy. Happiest birthday to my favorite guy. Thanks for putting up with my endless DIY projects, incessant furniture moving requests, head and back scratches and everything else that comes with being married to me.

Hope you all are having a great start to the new year. I’ve got a really fun campaign that starts tomorrow so be sure to follow me on Instagram to see what’s happening! I’ve also got some posts coming up this month showing the changes we’ve made to our home to prepare for fostering. I can’t wait to share it with you.

xoxo,

yuni

I miss her big giant hugs, random crazy dance moves, impromptu jams on the piano, base guitar, harmonica, and ukulele. It’s a mix of excitement, happiness and sadness and I’m letting myself feel it all. I catch myself getting weepy throughout the day but I feel a deep sense of gratitude for this new season and what she’ll get to experience.
Aside from the rug, the girls styled their space and it turned out so cute. I love that she’s rooming with her friend from 1st grade. How can my child be in college?!😭😢
