Friday Favorites

September 22, 2017

This week’s Friday Favorites consist of turning 38, the best transformation yet on LYA and a bat mitzvah.

Today, I’m linking up with Andrea at Momfessionals and sharing my Friday Favorites with you all. This past week was party central. It was my birthday on Tuesday so my family and friends showered me with lots of love and good food. Funny story: last year, for a few months I told everyone I was 38 because I really thought I was! So this year, turning 38 wasn’t so bad because it’s like I didn’t age at all.

My sweet neighbor, Angie and SIL, Linda

Last weekend started off with my neighbor’s bat mitzvah. It was such a fun and unique experience. The ceremony and reception lasted 6 hours and we had a blast eating, mingling and dancing the afternoon away.

For an early bday dinner with the family, my MIL cooked one of my favorite Korean beef dishes called galbi-jim and I need to share her recipe on the blog because it’s amazing. It’s basically a braised short rib and it tastes like heaven in your mouth because the meat is so tender.

Jimmy’s grandmother has been here and it’s been so sweet. She has lost a lot of memory so she asks us the same questions every time we see her but she’s so happy being here especially with her great grand children. I love this photo representing 4 generations.

On another evening, my girlfriends took me out to eat Persian at Rumi’s Kitchen. It’s one of my favorite cuisines and they serve a ton of food. I was excited to have it again the next day at home.

I’m so thankful for these sisters. The older I get the more I appreciate these special women in my life. A true friend cheers you on in your passions and giftings, don’t compete with you in any way and celebrates your success. They cry with you when you fall and don’t judge your weird quirks, messy home and sometimes defiant children. Thank you, sisters! I love you!

On my actual day, Jimmy wanted to take me out to nice restaurant but as we were driving by this local area, we changed plans and ate bb-que instead.

I’m southern and sometimes this girl just needs some bb-que ribs and beans!

We ended the night with a trip to Home Depot and Lowe’s because that’s how we roll. Eeks, I can’t wait to share the completed laundry room!

I’m loving my birthday skirt!

Did you guys catch Jimmy’s transformation? I shared a Paleo FAQ on that post. This Before and After is the most amazing transformation yet on LYA!

I also shared this dairy free overnight oats recipe and it’s so so good.

Lastly, Jimmy and I loved this sermon series called, “Guardrails.” The series covers topics from money to relationships. It was the best sermon I’ve heard on fidelity and highly recommend watching or listening to it.

Hope you have a great weekend, friends!

I miss her big giant hugs, random crazy dance moves, impromptu jams on the piano, base guitar, harmonica, and ukulele. It’s a mix of excitement, happiness and sadness and I’m letting myself feel it all. I catch myself getting weepy throughout the day but I feel a deep sense of gratitude for this new season and what she’ll get to experience.
Aside from the rug, the girls styled their space and it turned out so cute. I love that she’s rooming with her friend from 1st grade. How can my child be in college?!😭😢
