Thanks everyone for wishing my sweet Jules a very happy birthday. I let her read the blog post when she got home from school and she reciprocated with lots of hugs and kisses. This was the first year I didn’t throw her a birthday party. When we went on our mother/daughter trip to CA, we talked it over and she decided it was okay to forego a party this year since the trip was an amazing early birthday present. It really showed me how much she has grown up. She did however request a carrot cake and I happily delivered. That’s my girl! I made a carrot cake and chocolate covered strawberries. YUM!
Btw, check out Emmy’s cast covered with Jimmy’s sock! Haha. She’s doing well. Thanks everyone for your concerns. She has to wear that for another week and then switch to a boot or more flexible cast.
What do you guys think about the kitchen?! Sheesh, is it a lot of work or what. We are hoping to be done by Friday night. I’m determined to finish before Mother’s Day. I love the brightness though and know it will be worth it. #pressingon
If you’ve been following along with the blog, you’ve probably figured out that I love junk. Ha! Okay, I don’t love all junk but I do love old things. I especially enjoy giving it some love and care and repurposing it for something even better. I think I love repurposing because it Jesus did the same thing! Jesus died so that he could give us a new life in him. What once was dead is now alive.
This chalkboard used to be a wooden cutting board but when it was cracked, I was about to toss it out. But then I looked at it with new eyes, turned it over and gave it a second life. God looks at us broken, beat up and used but HE is the one that gives us new purpose, a new life in him. We can see ourselves as useless and without purpose but his truth in 2 Corinthians 5:17 states, “this means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!”
This mirror was old, dirty, falling apart in the back and abandoned on the side of the road. God sees past what others sees and he makes all things new.
The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness. Jeremiah 31:3
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:5
To all who mourn in Israel, he will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair. In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks that the LORD has planted for his own glory. Isaiah 61:3
Do you struggle to see your worth or purpose? God has given you an identity to be set apart and he has a unique purpose for your life. You were made by him for him. He looks past your shortcomings and loves you with an everlasting love.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9
What wonderful truths we can live by!
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. Psalm 139:14
