I’m linking up with Momfessionals today for Friday Favorites.
Fourteen years have already passed since 9/11. I will always remember certain events like my wedding day, the day my children were born, and 9/11. I was a college student who had just arrived in Spain a week prior to studying abroad. I remember feeling shock, loneliness, and horror from watching all the news coverage. I never felt so homesick. Almost 3,000 people lost their lives that day and nearly 300 of them were firefighters and police officers. It reminded me of this verse.
Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. John 15:13
Yesterday, we celebrated JJ’s 6th birthday! He asked for spaghetti and chocolate cake so that’s what he got! You know I love throwing a party but this year, we opted to go the simple route with all three kids and just celebrate with family. JJ said as long as he had cake he was fine so I was really thankful for that. He did request a Minecraft cake so you know mama had to deliver!
Here’s his face seeing it for the first time. He’s containing his excitement but he loved it.
My boy is 6!!!
My girlfriend, Hye Jong gave me a makeup tutorial yesterday. Thank you, friend for sharing your gifts! I love how each of us have different talents we can share with others. Makeup is not mine so I was grateful to learn a thing or two.
We also celebrated a couple of weeks ago with some blueberry mochi cake when we went on vacation with our friends. Emmy had already passed out by the time we took this photo.
Our time in Rosa Beach was such a sweet time with family and friends. I really cherish our annual trip with our neighbors.
She’s slowly losing all her chunky rolls. 🙁
Fun times with our neighbors who are like family.
This is how I like my house, full of crazy kids eating ice cream! As you can see, this island serves us well.
I’m starting to add small touches of fall in my home but it’s hard when it’s still hot and muggy outside. There’s something about the crisp air of fall that I love. Plus, I love wearing boots! It’s definitely my favorite season. The air is finally starting to cool off a little especially in the mornings.
My brother visited us during his vacation from the Cinderella tour. I really cherish our times together. We’re 10 years apart and I would say this past year, our relationship as siblings has really deepened. So thankful for him. Yes, he’s a real snazzy dresser.
I also got to meet up with some old college friends and I love how we pick up right where we always leave off. Tip: When having a flat hair day, put on a hat and instantly, you look so much more polished! #trickoftheday
My baby niece turned 6 months! Check out the half ombre cake my sister made. I give her mad props for being the one to teach me how to pipe icing correctly. It used to look like poop! Could Nora be any cuter? #no
I also read a great article this past week on, “Two Bedtime Prayers for Weary Parents.” Jimmy and I make an effort to have family prayer time before bed every night with our kids but there are some nights, I am exhausted from the day’s events and want to skip it all together and just throw them in bed. I am reminded that these simple prayer times can be the most treasured part of our day with our kids.
Did you read my Makeup Makeover post yesterday at Orgjunkie? If not, see how I organize my makeup counter.
Have a wonderful weekend!
