I’m linking up with Momfessionals today for Friday Favorites but it’s gonna be a little different today. I’m sharing some Friday truths to encourage everyone reading this today.
We came back from vacation with our close friends last weekend. It was a blessed time of eating, laughing, and having true fellowship with one another. These are the moments God reminds me how important it is to live in community.
After returning, our week was filled with a lot of news from people around us getting sick or being admitted to the hospital. One friend’s dad had surgery due to cancer, one of my closest girlfriends had excruciating stomach and back pain for almost a week and had to have a CAT scan (it ended up being an awful virus), another friend emailed asking for prayer for a family member in the hospital. These events shed light on how fragile and precious our lives really are.
There is so much going on around the world and around our communities and inner circles. Unfortunately, no one can avoid pain or hardships. This article really spoke to my heart on pain and how it can produce pride. When experiencing brokenness and pain, we can become proud because we believe no one can understand our struggles. The enemy loves to make us feel that way so that we can withdraw from the body of Christ and feel isolated.
Currrently, I’m listening to a sermon series called, “What makes you happy.” If you have a chance, listen to this one because it preaches about the sermon on the mount from Matthew 5. It helped me to understand what it means to be blessed when we’re “poor in spirit and persecuted.”
I’m praying that you will depend on Christ and trust him with whatever it is you’re going through today. Ask him to meet you where you are and listen to the ways he’s ministering to your heart. It’s easy to miss when we’re so distracted.
My girlfriend took this pic last weekend. Isn’t it just breathtaking? God paints the most beautiful pictures and the best part is that it’s real and we get to witness it.
Sometimes, you get caught up in the struggle and lose sight of His faithfulness. And then, you look up and see this. It’s like a huge reminder from Him speaking into your soul saying, “I got this. See the details of every one of those clouds and the vastness of the oceans? Yeah, I did that. There’s nothing too great that’s outside of my hands. No small detail gets overlooked. I got you. Just look to me.” Then, I stand amazed in awe and I’m speechless because of that powerful truth.

The Beatitudes
He said:
3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
