As the holiday season approaches, it’s time to get our guest room ready!
Can you believe the holidays are just around the corner? Halloween is already next week and before you know it, it’ll be Christmas. The holidays are my favorite time of year because it usually means we have family and friends visiting from all over. I love making our guest room ready for them and there are a few things I like to consider when preparing for their stay.
This post is sponsored by Serena and Lily but all thoughts, opinions and styling are my own.
There is nothing better than a comfortable, cozy bed. Am I right? I love the idea of layering linens and bedding so that you can accommodate people who sleep in a cooler or warmer environment. They have the option of sleeping with a sheet, duvet comforter and a quilt. My friends at Serena and Lily were so gracious in sending over their luxury line of bedding, bath and decor items so that my guests feel completely pampered during their stay. Their sleep well event is going on now until October 28th and all their bedding and beds are up to 30% off.
Since I like to keep it pretty neutral when it comes to bedding, I fell in love with the Oxford striped midnight duvet. What I like most is that this duvet can be used throughout every season and it comes in three colors. The beautiful Sutter linen quilt at the bottom of the bed adds a cozy layer during the Fall and Winter months to provide extra warmth for our guests. I coordinated with the Oxford striped pillow shams and this gorgeous embroidered Olympia sheet set.
The white Topeka mirror has a lovely organic texture and makes the perfect statement piece above the bed. The light and airy rattan is the quintessential coastal Serena and Lily piece. Again, this piece can be used over the bed, mantel, piano, etc. This is the small size and they have a larger version in a couple other colors. I love the natural element it adds and I’m little jealous of the guest room because it’s nicer than ours!
I brought in the Cayucos 20″ throw pillows to add some design detail and they add a little bit of color and texture to the overall look of the bed. I love how the dark green tassels contrast against the neutral blue. The woven textural pattern on the ivory Montecito lumbar pillow is intricate and surprisingly, this pillow was actually made for outdoors.
One tip I always like to add is going one size bigger on the pillow inserts. Since my pillow covers were 20″, I made sure to go with 22″ pillow inserts. This ensures a nice full and fluffy pillow as opposed to a flat one.
A few grocery store fresh flowers always add a welcoming touch to the room. You could even bring in some green branches from outside. It doesn’t have to be fancy.
Let’s talk towels. Towels are just as important in my opinion as any other detail in the bathroom.
That’s why these black trimmed towels are absolutely swoon worthy. They are incredibly soft, luxurious and the black banded trim add the perfect amount of detail and color to something ordinary like a towel. These towels are super absorbent and the black edge is a nice modern element to something that seems otherwise basic.
I didn’t expect the bath rug to be anything special but my gosh, it is the softest bath rug I’ve ever felt on my feet. I may have to steal it for my own bathroom. 😀 Jimmy said the rug was his favorite item.
We gave this bathroom a cosmetic transformation a couple of years ago and it’s still going strong.
We can’t wait for our first guests to use the space and hope they love their stay. Any takers? Come on over! Thank you to our friends over at Serena and Lily for creating a haven for our guest.
xoxo,
