The Atlanta Market is full of design inspiration with the most beautiful showrooms showcasing everything from furniture, lighting, decor, gardening and textiles.
Well last week was an interesting one. We received a nice surprise when GA received a good amount of snow last month but then it happened again last week. Then on Sunday, we had the most glorious weather near the 70s. Yesterday, it was dreary and a bit cold. Gotta love how fickle GA is! The kids happily missed school which meant I got behind on work and life. I guess sometimes we all need a forced break although having kids at home is often times actually more work am I right? Two weekends ago, I had the fun opportunity to hit the Atlanta market with some designer friends. I thought I’d share a recap since it was such an awesome time with the craziest ending to my day.
I had the opportunity to meet my friend, Amie from Memehill Studios at the Atlanta Market. She was coming down from New York and had been an IG friend for a while now. I know it sounds strange to meet someone face to face that you only know from online but we had exchanged direct messages and I have admired her mad design skills for some time now. She’s seriously one of the most talented people I know. Plus, I knew I loved her when she was sharing an IG story of her enjoying some Korean bb-que. That’s my Korean soul sister right there. I was so excited to meet her in person and we had a fabulous time. She’s exactly the same online as she is in real life so it was a real treat hanging out with her.
We had so much fun seeing all the beautiful showrooms and we attended a seminar where 3 very successful blogger turned designers shared their stories.
I also had the chance to meet another local designer, Kathy. She’s on the left and makes the most beautiful wallpaper designs. I love connecting with other bloggers and she happens to live not that far away from me. We got to hear Erin from Elements of Style. I’ve been following her for years and it was cool to hear her story.
Here are some of the showrooms we saw. There’s so much to see but I love that you can get inspiration by so many different styles and appreciate the creativity behind them.
Remember my beautiful Christmas stockings from that same fabric on these chairs? We visited my friend, Kellie Smith’s booth and it was beautiful! So much color, drama and pattern mixing. She sponsored our Christmas blog hop tour with these beautiful new textiles that she’s selling now.
We had a wonderful time and I got to visit and see a bunch of other friends working at the market. It was great seeing you, Jill, Shelly and Stella!
The day was perfect up until I left. You guys…. me and the city aren’t a good match. I’m directionally challenged and I barely know my left from my right. I completely forgot where I parked. I know that sounds crazy. I was so excited that morning that I parked in on a lot a few blocks away and then I blindly followed some ladies that were walking to the market. I knew they were headed there because of their lanyards. I didn’t even manage to look at the street where I was parked. #palmsinface I know. It was bad. I just knew I parked a few blocks from America’s mart. Do you know how many parking lots are there within a few blocks of the mart? A LOT! I walked for an hour and I could not find my car. I was down to 3% battery so I returned back to the mart and sat on the floor and called my husband. To make the long dramatic story short, he was going to come and we were planning on driving around until we found the car. As I sat on the floor, I thought to check my mile tracker app which I literally had uploaded a few days prior and there was a map showing where my car was parked. LORD, have mercy! I praised God when I saw that car. Can you even believe it? Thankfully, I had such a good day that I wasn’t as stressed looking for the car but just annoyed at myself.
I hope I learned my lesson that day. #probablynot Please tell me I’m not the only one with this problem.
Did you catch our newly transformed bedroom for our future foster child? Be sure to check that post out! I shopped around the house and am super happy with how it turned out.
Have a great week, friends! I’ll be back sharing a delicious paleo recipe soon and it only requires 3 ingredients! YASSSS.

I’m so glad you didn’t totally freak out, years ago I would of. I am trying to be more calm about life. Good tip for use of cell phone camera…..take a photo of where you parked. When you go to an event in the city or a town you are not familiar with get out your phone and snap a photo or two. Just delete later and life goes on. Same with if you take your children with snap a photo of them also, then God forbid you get separated. I know , but it has happened over the years a couple of times. Thank goodness is was never for longer than a few minutes. So no you are not the only one.

Yes, all great tips!! The funny thing is I had told myself to snap a photo of the parking lot. But then I got too excited and forgot. HA! Oh well. Thanks so much, Barbi!
