See the simple changes I made by doing a little guest room pillow refresh.
Last year, I completely transformed our guest room for my first One Room Challenge. Since then, we have housed a countless number of guests and for that I’m thankful. I’m so glad that we’ve been able to utilize that room to the fullest. Recently, the room has been taken over by my staging decor. I had to convert the guest room closet to hold a bunch of my decor because of my various staging projects. I really needed a space to hold a bunch of accessories and it was important to have it be on the main floor so I wasn’t constantly hauling them up and down the stairs. Some of the decor actually is stored in our garage and for the future, I really need to think of a long term solution.
Anyhow, I decided the room needed a little refresh and so I wanted to share how easy it is to change the look of a bedroom with pillows. Pillows are an inexpensive way to add style, color and texture to any space. After last Christmas, I added those rustic shutters above each nightstand. I hung some mini wreaths but since then, have kept it relatively simple. Remember, this is what it looked like right after I finished the guest room.
Here’s how it looks today with different pillows. I love both looks but this one is bit more edgy and boho.
The black and white pillows were clearance finds from Target. I loved the pattern and design on them. I always try to buy pillows that will work for other spaces in my home. Plus, I’m always sourcing decor pieces for my staging projects.
I like to keep it simple on the nightstands with a few decor pieces including old books, candles and faux plants.
Fresh hydrangeas from my yard are some of my favorite things about summer. You can read all about how to prolong the life of hydrangeas in this post. Fresh flowers in the house instantly add life and beauty to a space.
I threw a light pink pillow on the guest chair. It’s the perfect soft color for summer don’t you think?
Always keep an extra throw in the guest room in case it gets cold for your guests.
If you’re looking to freshen up your bedroom, try adding a few new pillows and a throw. I love keeping the bedding white so that I can change up the pillows to give it an entirely new look.
Have a wonderful week, friends! I’m off to the Haven conference towards the end of the week and I can’t wait to see my blogger friends. You can keep up with me on Instagram where I’ll share all the fun things happening at the DIY/decorating blogging conference.

Do you have a template for the sign about it being a great day? I really like that. I love your work.
Yuni Min says
Hi Joyce, which sign are you talking about? Sorry! I couldn’t figure it out because there wasn’t one with this saying on this particular post. Thank you so much for your kind words!
