Woohoo, it’s Friday! This past week felt like doozy with my youngest catching hand foot mouth disease. Yup, fun times. It was her second time catching it and you guys, it is NOT fun. Let’s just say my husband and I didn’t get any sleep and I’m totally over My Little Pony and putting together the same puzzle a hundred times. The mouth sores are no joke and it’s really sad to see your child in pain. Miraculously, today she woke up completely better! Since we were quarantined, we naturally did some fun stuff like watercolor and change out all the slipcovers in our family room. YES, it’s fun to me! I know I’m a totally weirdo and I happily embrace it! The clean couches made up for the hot mess I looked like all week.
Since the school year started, I wanted to bring back my Friday Favorites with you guys. As you may know, I don’t fall into one category of design because I just love a broad spectrum of decor. I decided a while back that instead of narrowing my style down to one box, I would just embrace the fact that I love decorating my home with things that I love. Sometimes, this means you’ll find some eclectic pieces in my home like my David bust that serves as a jewelry holder in my bedroom. If you’re the same way, I hope you’ll find freedom in decorating your home as it reflects your own unique personality.
Today, I have the opportunity to share with you a really cool company called Uncommon Goods. They sell unique, crafted designs for art, home decor, jewelry, etc. I love so many things about what this company does. Their mission is to support and provide a platform for artists and designers and half of what they sell is made by hand. You know I have a deep love for handmade items. The fact that they pay 50% above the minimum wage for the lowest-paid seasonal worker is just another reason this company rocks.
Since I’m an avid baker, I’ve been eyeing a macaron sheet and this macaron kit from Uncommon Goods is perfect! You can find this along with some other great gift ideas at http://www.uncommongoods.com/gifts/personalized/personalized-gifts.
It literally took me at least 4 tries to get my macarons to turn out right and I’ve been itching to make them again once the weather cools down. These finicky desserts take time, patience and precise measurements. They take work but are so worth it!
These copper and wooden measuring cups would be so cute to add to my baking tools. Can you tell I love baking? I’m seeing so much copper and rose gold in decor these days and I like it! I’m a chalk board lover and use them all around the home. These chalkboard place cards are perfect for entertaining. Wouldn’t they make the cutest holiday tablescape place cards? I could also see them being used as place cards for food on the buffet table for a gathering. You can check out more home decor related items here. http://www.uncommongoods.com/home-garden/home-decor
Naturally, I chose everything that had to do with entertaining and baking but Uncommon Goods has a wide array of items. I saw some really cute nesting baskets, unique lighting and gourmet food items. I love how their items are truly one of a kind.
I hope you guys have a wonderful weekend and don’t forget to check out my DIY rainbow cake if you missed it this week.
I’ll end with a #fridayfunny from last Sunday when my son realized he didn’t have any shoes. You guys, he didn’t realize this until we parked the car AT CHURCH. Most days, we sooooo don’t have it together and I’m learning that that’s okay. This photo is so perfect for Friday Favorites, no?
As always, thanks for reading!
