Tips to help you decorate above your bed.
Hi friends! It’s been a while but school just started last week and it’s been busy getting all of us transitioned into the new schedule. I’ll post more about that later but today, I wanted to share some tips on how to decorate above your bed. One day as I was making my bed, (honestly this doesn’t happen a lot because I’m terrible at it but trying to get better!) I thought it would be a fun topic to cover. I asked my followers on IG and there was an overwhelming number who said yes to this blog post. So here it is! When inspiration strikes, I have no choice but to pull out decor and start making a mess.

MIRROR
A very popular item to place above your bed is a mirror. Starburst mirrors and ones that have interesting shapes can add dimension and visual interest above your bed. You could even do three smaller ones above the bed but the easiest is adding just one. Here’s one with curved embellished detailing.

Botanical Prints
Another lovely idea that I love is adding botanical prints. It’s simple enough yet beautiful and if you love gardening or farmhouse decor, this may fit your style to a T. It’s understated yet classic. I kinda loved it after it was hung up here!

Vintage or Antique Piece
If you love vintage or antique pieces like art or a piece of primitive decor, this is a great way to showcase it. My art piece is a little small here for scale but I wanted to show you how a great piece of vintage art can really add beauty and personality to your space.

A large piece of Art
If you are an art lover, this is another great idea. I styled this one with a coastal piece and it adds a soothing calmness to the room which is great for a bedroom. Art is such a personal choice and the options are endless.

Thrifted Baskets
Currently, this is what sits above my bed. I thrifted a few cheap baskets and arranged them together as a trio. I love this because it add texture and adds a natural element to the space. Plus, it looks great in contrast with the dark navy walls.

NOTHING
Sometimes, less is more. If you have art or hefty lamps or beautiful sconces next to your bed, it may be a good idea to go with nothing above the bed. Some people add decor above their nightstands like art or mirrors. In this case, I like to leave the space above the bed bare. Sometimes, it’s not necessary to add anything there and gives your eyes the ability to rest and relax.
There are of course many other ideas but these are some of my favorite ways to add decor above your bed. I hope you found this post helpful and remember, sometimes you have to experiment and try different things to find what you love the most.

We’ve gone with nothing above the bed – not for the reason you listed but my husband and I cannot decide on what would be best. LOL. I love looking at all your decorating.

I know what you mean. Sometimes, it takes forever to decide on the thing you like! There’s nothing wrong with taking your time. 🙂
