These honey ginger drumsticks makes for a foolproof recipe and is one of our favorite meals.
This recipe is a must try! I adapted it from here and it’s so good. The sauce is the best part in my opinion and best poured over rice. YUM! I’ve made it with thighs too and it’s just as good. I wouldn’t recommend chicken breast only because it’s a lot drier.
You know it’s good when the hubby texts you while you’re at a soccer game with the son.
I think Jimmy liked the drumsticks? My kids licked their plates clean so I think it’s a keeper. Oh yeah, JJ scored his first goal too!
Gather your ingredients
Honey Ginger Drumsticks
- 12-14 drumsticks (I peeled off the skin)
- 2 tbsp sesame oil
- 7 tbsp honey
- 1/2 cup soy sauce (I use low sodium)
- 1 tsp of ground ginger or use 1 tbsp of minced fresh ginger
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp of minced garlic
- bunch of chopped fresh parsley
Look at my pretty parsley straight from our garden bed!
Gather all your ingredients except for the chicken and mix in a bowl. Place your chicken in a zip lock bag and pour the sauce in. Shake and move around till well covered. Place it in the fridge for 30 min-1 hour.
I love that you don’t have to marinate this overnight.
Place the drumsticks and all of the sauce in your pan or casserole dish and bake for about an hour at 375 degrees. If you want, you can flip them over once after about 40 minutes.
Serve with rice! Don’t forget to pour some of the sauce over it. It’s real good ya’ll. Finger lickin good!

yuni

Yuni –
Can you marinate these overnight? Can I stick it all in a bag at night and cook ’em for lunch the next day? Or will they be too salty? =)
Yuni Min says
hi hanna, i’m pretty sure it will be fine. i use low sodium soy sauce and it doesn’t taste salty at all. we eat up all the sauce too! hope they come out well!!

Made these twice this week! Once for just Mike and I (which we ended up devouring) and another time for some college kids (they devoured them too)! I don’t cook very often so I like to find recipes to foods that are easy to make. This one has been added to the list! Thanks so much for posting this!!

That’s so awesome, Jean! That makes me so happy! Glad they will be added to your list! 😀

I finally tried this recipe for dinner tonight. Everyone loved it! Mom used to make delicious wings with sauce similar to this but she never measures anything so it was nice to have measurements for all the ingredients. We also liked your taco pie recipe. Thanks for sharing!!

Quick question: is it ok to keep the skin on for chicken pieces?
Yuni Min says
Thank you so much, Jenn! That means a lot to me! Welcome and so glad you’re here. Yes, you can keep the chicken skin on. I hope you enjoy it. It’s one of the most popular recipes on the blog and it’s so easy!
