This homemade salted caramel is the perfect holiday sweet treat,
For Christmas, I created a hot cocoa station for family and friends. I made some homemade salted caramel for the cocoa station and it was a big hit. We may or may not have eaten this stuff straight out of the jar.
When you make this for your family, you’ll get this type of reaction. PURE JOY!
Here’s how to make your own.
Salted Caramel Ingredients (Adapted from here)
1 cup of sugar
6 tablespoons of butter
1/2 cup of heavy cream
1/2 tablespoon of sea salt
Directions:
In a saucepan over med-high, heat the sugar. Continue stirring with a spatula and you’ll see the sugar start to clump together.
As you stir often, it will begin to melt and bubble. Keep stirring. When it is melted and golden in color, add the butter. Make sure not to wait or the melted sugar will burn! Be careful as the butter may splatter.
There’s something about good food that creates laughter, joy, and memories.
Christmas may be over but you can use this for hot cocoa, pour it over coffee, ice cream, or dip all kinds of yummy things into it. I recently made some salted caramel frosting for some cupcakes and they were a hit. I’ll share that soon. Of course, it’s delicious straight out of the jar!
Enjoy! Happy Tuesday!!
