Hi everyone, I want to kick start a new series called, “Share Your Abode.” Every now and then, I want to share YOUR homes because I want to see how you decorate but more importantly, how you live in your home!
Today I have a special treat for you. My sweet friend, Jill, allowed me to take pictures of her beautiful historic home. It was originally built in the 1890s and Jill and her husband, Steve have done an amazing job renovating and restoring it over the years. Isn’t the front just amazing and full of southern character? I love how she decorated her fence with garland and stuck with the traditional colors outside using red bows. Charming is definitely one word I would use to describe her home.
Interesting fact: Jill’s house was featured in Adam Sandler’s movie, “Blended” with Drew Barrymore. Jill’s house was actually Adam’s house in the movie. Cool right?? I think he even slept on her bed in the movie. HA!
If you know Jill, she is everything good that comes from being southern. She’s kind, hilarious, always has a sweet tea in hand, loves Jesus in the realest way, and of course has the best southern accent. Her home completely reflects her style because it’s warm, intentional, and full of personality. I’ve gotten to know Jill through my small group and I’m always so encouraged to hear how she’s used her home as a haven and refuge for others.
The front yard holds an intimate setting for a nice fire pit and I think it would be perfect eating s’mores there with homemade marshmallows.
Talk about a true southern style porch to welcome you in. They are right across railroad tracks but that just adds to the character of the quaint neighborhood.
I’d like to sit on that swing and drink some iced tea please. #andtakeanap
I imagine Jill and Steve’s grandkids making some beautiful memories playing on this porch.
Yes, your eyes are correct. That’s a daybed! I would love to sit there and read a book or sit with neighbors and catch up. What a dream!
The cutest blue door with a huge burlap wreath welcomes you in.
Beautiful hardwood floors are all throughout the first floor. With the remodel, they added a second story years ago for their children and guests.
The entryway has a small, long nook on the right with this antique, refinished dresser. When I visited Jill for the first time, I couldn’t stop looking at all of her collected pieces of furniture and decor. She loves thrifting and antiquing so there’s plenty of unique items all throughout her home. Don’t pay attention to that amateur photographer.
I really love flocked trees and this one was no exception.
Jill uses cake stands all throughout the home to display decor like this sweet nativity set.
The double sided fireplace graces the living room and dining area.
Jill decorates with things that aren’t necessarily something you would use for decor like that vintage fire hose. Pretty cool huh? It just fits right in with her design aesthetic. She has a little bit of that Joanna Gaines from Fixer Upper.
Ornaments in a dish bring in a festive touch to a dresser she placed in her entryway. I love using dressers in unexpected places because they add storage and counter space.
She loves decorating with old books just like I do. A simple handmade paper chain garland are placed on bookshelves with Christmas figurines.
Let’s go into my favorite part of the home, the kitchen! Here’s the other side of the fireplace and the dining area.
I’m in love with this old piece!
This primitive corner shelf was an antique find and fits perfectly in the dining area that’s open to the kitchen. I can’t remember the age but I know it’s very very old.
Vintage marmalade jars hold utensils and straws. Functional and pretty!
Here’s another unique piece I loved! It provides storage space at the bottom and it’s a pretty area to decorate through the glass shelving.
I love the way Jill renovated her kitchen because she was able to provide maximum space to move around and entertain when people come over. Since it seems they have people over quite a bit, this kitchen is ideally a focal point and heart of the home.
Her contractor thought she was crazy when she shared her desired plans for this arched area above the stove. I love the bricked backsplash and it’s the perfect nook for this main cooking area.
Can you believe she was able to keep the original farmhouse sink? It’s s unique and placed perfectly right under those windows where the light comes in. Thank you, Jill for teaching me all about tea towels!
Isn’t Jill the cutest? I love her home but love her heart so much more. Thank you, Jill for inviting us into your lovely abode. What a beautiful place to call home!
Wasn’t that so much fun? Please leave a comment for her because she’s amazing!
If you missed my last series on the Merry and Bright Holiday Tour, you can find it right here. Praying that this advent season brings you closer to Jesus and that you’re able to find rest and peace in Him. It is nothing short of a miracle that the son of man came down to earth as an infant to give us eternal life in Him. Some unexpected trials have come our way and it’s just giving me one more reason to choose to place my hope and trust in Him. If this is you too, I pray that you would find his grace is sufficient for you today and tomorrow. Let’s press on because he is for us and never against us. You are loved, friends.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend, friends.

In that day they will say, “Surely this is our God; we trusted in him, and he saved us. This is the LORD, we trusted in him; let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation.” Isaiah 25:9

Thank you, Yuni, for this fabulous showing of Jill & Steve’s historic home!
Interesting how this came about. Jill was “house-hunting” & unexpectedly came to Buford with her Realtor. This house had just gone on the market on a Saturday morning in 1998. Jill immediately fell in love with this awesome place & had put a contract to purchase later that day. So, guess that’s what you call “Love at first sight”.
All of our family have been able to enjoy this “Show Place” & it’s just fun to enjoy that front porch & those TRAINS! Thank you again:) Wilma White (Jill’s Mom)

What a wonderful home! Jill has been so creative in decorating it. I’d love to see it one of these days. The floors are spectacular! So very glad you didn’t “gut it” like so many new owners do. Thank you for preserving the character, and adding some of your own!
Blessings throughout the year,
