It’s already Friday? I still can’t believe it’s October! I’m sharing my Friday Favorites with Momfessionals today.
Last night, I got to meet Eddie Ross! He’s one of my favorite designers and he recently came out with a book called, Modern Mix. He also happens to be the East Coast editor for Better Homes and Gardens. This book is a feast for the eyes as it is full of beautiful photography and awesome tips on how to create beautiful tablescapes, interiors, and parties all on a budget. He navigates thrift stores, antique markets and estate sales to find unique treasures for your home.
The book signing was held at the beautiful home decor store, Steve McKenzies in Atlanta. Jimmy picked me up from home and we drove more than an hour through the awful traffic. You guys know I love my husband but seeeeriously. He was stuck at work and couldn’t get out, finally managed to leave but was on a conference call the entire way down to Atlanta. This guy hangs my chandelier, helps paint cabinets with me, and takes me to the city because he knows I hate driving. We finally managed to make it towards the end of the signing. Eddie wrote the book with Jaithan and here I am holding my signed copy! Ahh I’m such a home decor loving gal. These guys were so personable and kind.
Here’s another photo with a little gift we brought for Eddie.
Jimmy and I made a date night out it since we don’t go down to the city that often. #countrybumpkins We decided to eat at Shake Shack since I had never eaten there. We ate burgers, fries, and a milkshake at 9:00PM! You know what? It was totally worth it. #noregrets Sometimes, you gotta live a little even if that means eating burgers close to bedtime.
We loved sitting on the roof. Have you guys seen that Restoration Hardware store across the street? Wow, it’s unreal!
My head looks abnormally huge here but that’s my happy burger face! We had a great time sans kids thanks to both our moms.
Did you see the new light I won for my office? It’s amazing how light can transform a space!
On Monday, I shared all the details to JJ’s room transformation.
The kids and I decorated our front door with tons of webs and spiders. I never really got into Halloween until I had kids and now, I have so much fun decorating and crafting during this time of year. They got a kick out of all the spiders. Me, not so much. They look terribly real but I guess that’s the point! Hopefully, I’ll get a few pumpkins for that little bench.
One of the things I’ve been meditating a lot on recently is the idea of grace. I’ve been reading “Morning Mercies,” by Paul David Tripp and he talks a lot about this subject. One of the days, the devotional asked some honest and poignant questions on what captures our attention, heart, and energy. The answer to this will control our thoughts and behavior and even our joy. This is the spiritual battle isn’t it at least while we’re on earth. We will always wrestle between serving the creator and serving the creation. I know I struggle with this and sometimes, I get it right and other times, I have it so wrong.
I love how Tripp states that it’s not wrong to want, work, and celebrate achievements but they must not be allowed to rule our heart and become our replacement of God. That’s why we are always in need of grace. We can’t do it on our own. His grace is the only thing that can free us from being captive to our idols. Colossians 3:1-2 states, “Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”
Do you struggle with this like I do? Ask Jesus for daily grace and for the holy spirit to help Him to rule your heart. Only then can we be freed to experience the fullness of life that he intends because our hearts and minds are on Him.
Have a blessed weekend, folks!

Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:16
