Some new wallpaper, fake arachnids and moody flowers help create a stylish and spooky new foyer.
I’m excited to share this area in our home as it’s the first area you see when you come inside. For the longest time, I’ve wanted to do something with my foyer. It’s a narrow area and since it sits right under the staircase, there isn’t much wall space. It has gone through some changes in the past but I finally had the chance to give it a nice little makeover with the help of Joann to create a stylish and spooky new foyer.

BEFORE
Here’s what it looked like after I removed everything. I tested out a piece of peel and stick wallpaper to see how it would look.
AFTER
I love the outcome so much! I’ve been addicted to this peel and stick wallpaper especially after I transformed my little nook recently. I decided this small wall area in the foyer would be the next perfect place to apply it. It really adds the perfect neutral texture to the wall.
Here are some tips on how to apply peel and stick wallpaper. This is a great way to add texture and visual interest to any space. I used the grasscloth peel and stick wallpaper from Joann.
-
Tip 1: When working with a small space, I like to start at the end of one wall. If you’re working with a larger wall, I recommend starting from the middle and creating points on the wall by finding the center points.
-
Tip 2: Peel off the wallpaper from the top and place it gently on the wall and as straight as possible.
-
Tip 3: Peel off the wallpaper from the top and slowly work downward.
-
Tip 4: Using a razor, cut away any extra wallpaper. Use a straight edge if necessary to glide the razor carefully.
-
Tip 5: Work downward and move any bubbles out towards the sides with your hands.
-
Tip 6: Use small remnants to fill any other areas. Remember to line up patterns if your wallpaper has images printed on them. I like to use any extra paper that’s leftover and line my kitchen cabinets drawers so nothing goes to waste.
I just adore this wallpaper and it really adds a layer of sophistication to this wall. These hexagonal mirrors are also from Joann and were the perfect size paired together. The antique gold distressing on the mirrors give them nice character and sheen. I also added some faux black pumpkins and a bunch of faux spiders that my kids absolutely love.
The glass cloche comes in two sizes and are great for holding all the creepy things like these gigantic spiders and bugs. I love using battery lit candles during the holidays and they add the perfect mood to any vignette. The iron and wood lanterns are also great for holding the battery powered candles.
I’m really digging this area now and I feel like my style is finally reflected in our foyer. The easy application of the peel and stick wallpaper is one of the perks of using this anywhere in your home. It’s easily removable and a great temporary or long term solution to any wall.
I put together a simple moody faux floral arrangement using a low vase. I love how the fake orchids drape out on the sides creating a more modern and dramatic look.

Thank you so much, Georgina! I’m so glad I found a table that was narrow enough for that space!

Hi,
I know that this has nothing to do with Halloween, but was just wondering when you put holiday table centerpieces for dinners such as, Thanksgiving and Christmas on the table? Really confused as to whether they are put out with the rest of the decorations or you wait to put it out.
Thank you!
Yuni Min says
Hi! Yes, you can put them out with the rest of the decorations or whatever you prefer.
