Hey guys! It’s already Friday! I was going to post this yesterday but it slipped my mind because my sweetest Unchong came over to watch Ems in the morning. She wanted to bless me with some personal time and I gratefully accepted. I can’t believe the kids will be out for summer break by this afternoon! I don’t know how that happened so quickly. This coming fall, JJ will join Jules in elementary school. #uglycry I’ve been trying to savor the last few moments with Emmy before she has to share me with her siblings. We will miss our morning stroller walks, eating lunch together and having her assist me with all of my projects aka mess them all up. 😀
This past weekend, our neighborhood had a garage sale. It was our very first time participating and the kids had been asking to have a lemonade stand forever so it was perfect. They may or may not have made more money than us. ha!
Our neighbors a few doors down also had a sale and I picked up this vintage coke crate for $5!
Isn’t it so cool?! That chalkboard was a gift I made for a friend. The crate was old and dusty and aside from having to kill a really disgusting centipede, it is perfect! Here are the various ways I styled it using things I had on hand. Sorry, if you follow me on Instagram, this is a repeat!
Option 1: Organized Party Supplies
I have a bunch of party supplies I’ve saved over the years since I throw a good number of parties. This could serve as a party caddy to hold all of my supplies. The best part is that it has handles on the side!
Option 2: Organized craft supplies
This is a very practical use since my kids love art and crafts. They would use this every day.
Jules loooooved it!
Option 3: Organized utensil holder
This is probably my favorite option! Isn’t it so cute? It looks so patriotic and it would be perfect for a bb-que for Memorial Day or July 4th. I even tried it with a bunch of condiments and they fit in there perfectly.
I love that it’s different than the other types of decor I have in our home. It could also be used on the counter to hold a bunch of herbs or in JJ’s room placed on the wall holding some of his legos or cars. So many options!
I hope this inspires you to think outside the box when it comes to decor and organization. I love when things like this serve multiple purposes and have different functionalities. Decorating and organizing your home doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg. This is where I love to be creative and I hope it sparks your creativity too.
I hope you have a great Memorial Day weekend. Here’s a little flashback friday if you want to make a simple patriotic dessert. We always make one for July 4th but it’s perfect for this weekend too. Just bake a box cake, ice with whipped cream and top with berries!
As always, I’m so thankful for all the soldiers who serve our country and who have sacrificed much and even given up their lives. Freedom is a precious gift.
