Going paleo has been a game changer in our health.
Hi friends! I’m back from Haven and I’ll have a recap for you soon but first, I wanted to share some really great news. My husband, Jimmy has lost almost 20 lbs!!! I had to share this great Halloween photo as a BEFORE because look at it! Last Halloween, we were Wayne and Garth from Wayne’s World.
He has been on a mission since January to lose weight. He’s giving himself a year to hit his goal weight before he turns 40. By June, he had only lost about 8 lbs and went stagnant so I suggested that we start a modified Paleo eating plan. We’ve been eating this way for almost 4 weeks now. I knew he couldn’t do this alone because I cook most of our meals and it’s much easier to have two people working at a goal together especially when it comes to losing weight. Plus, I believe when it comes to losing weight, 80% of it is is the food you eat and 20% is exercise. We are good about exercising but I knew he needed a little help when it came to eating less and cutting out some unnecessary sugar. We love sweets in this household and thankfully, there are a bunch of recipes out there that allow us to enjoy treats.
I figured it would be great to share a little progress since he’s basically met his first goal to reach 200 lbs. He started off in January at 218 lbs. At his heaviest, he weighed 222 lbs. His next goal is to hit 190 lbs. He wants to reach a final goal weight around 180 lbs. He’s 6 feet tall so he’s a pretty big guy. He hasn’t weighed 200 lbs since he was in college! I’m seeing his love handles disappear and it’s crazy to see the progress right in front of my eyes.
We forgot to take a real Before picture but here are a couple of my favorite photos.
Here are some recent photos!! I’m so proud of him! Losing weight is hard and it takes a lot of discipline, self control and patience.
This was after we had a hard core work out and Emmy decided to join us at the end. I realize she totally looks like a bum here. Don’t judge me. ha! Can you see Jimmy’s chin? I can definitely see the weight loss in his face and mid section.
I’ve been experimenting with different recipes and so far, it has been really good for the both of us. We feel so much healthier and the biggest change for both of us is the amount of energy we have. I used to hit the 2:00 slump every.single.day. NO more! I don’t drink coffee so I would literally be dragging during that time every day and forcing myself to work through it. I’m so glad that I don’t have that problem anymore. Here are a couple of sites that have some amazing Paleo recipes.

Here are some recipes that I’ve been playing around with and hope to share with you soon.
Of course, they are both baked goodies! If you’re on a mission to lose weight or get healthy, I would recommend finding a friend to keep you accountable. Exercise together and keep track of each other’s progress. Taste test and swap recipes. If you know of any good Paleo recipes, please send them my way!
Have a great week, friends!
