It’s time to welcome you into our abode for a spring home tour.
Hi friends! If you’re coming from A House and A Dog, welcome to Love Your Abode! Wasn’t Allison’s home the loveliest? She is such a talented blogger and nails the clean modern farmhouse look. I’m so excited to showcase our spring home tour on the blog today.
If you’re a new visitor, you can read some information about me and the blog here. If you were visiting my home in real life, I’d offer you some coffee/tea and we’d most likely be having a nice brunch together because that’s my favorite mealtime.
Even though the weather in GA has turned cold again, I’m sharing a Spring Home Tour with 15 of my amazing and talented blogger girlfriends. I know a bunch of you have been hit hard with a snow storm so let’s just imagine that we’re currently enjoying some warm Spring weather without all of the nasty pollen. One can dream right?
I recently went on a crazy faux succulent craze and created multiple wreaths and a centerpiece. I love how real they look!
Our foyer received some changes when we moved the rustic bookshelf from the kitchen to this area. I mixed in some decor along with the DIY silhouette photos of my kids. The blue and white pieces add a cohesive look with all of the rustic pieces.
As you walk past the foyer, you’ll enter our family room that just received a complete room transformation.
You’ll see the headshot photo canvases of my kids on the wall between the foyer and living room. The photos were taken a few years back by our friend, Craig Obrist. I just adore seeing their little faces peeking from that narrow wall. They are a big reason to why I’m so passionate about creating a home with purpose.
I kept the faux garland up on the window pane that I made for my SIL’s baby shower about a month ago. She just had her baby two days ago!
The family room is mostly neutral with pops of blue. I love adding real and faux plants everywhere as they bring life to a space.
Simple inexpensive grocery store flowers add color and freshness to any room. You wouldn’t be able to tell it’s freezing outside by looking at these photos!
After our living room makeover with Home Depot, I painted the rest of the walls in the kitchen white to match. The new paint really brightened and cleaned up this space especially since there was a lot of smudges and handprints all over the walls. Life happens here a lot so that means crumbs and messes are all a part of our home. I’m just good at pushing them to the side when taking these shots. 😉
Styling is probably my favorite part of decorating. I love creating vignettes on a shelf, coffee table or anywhere there’s space. I believe shelfies are way better than selfies. Is it weird that I could look at and style shelves all day long? Btw, we don’t wear shoes in the home. It’s just for the photo, people. #imkorean #noshoesallowed
We have an open concept home so that means the family room, breakfast area and kitchen are all basically one large area. I love the openness of the space as this is where we all tend to hang out and do life together. That big basket under the console table holds all the crayons, markers and colored pencils. I love combining function with style especially when it comes to organizing.
Everything happens in this kitchen. We love hosting and having people over and I can’t imagine how many meals have been shared around this island. It’s where we do homework, crafting, baking, cooking, talking, praying, laughing and crying. Isn’t that what a home is all about? It’s not about the stuff that fills it but what happens inside the walls. Our abode is a place where hope is found because Jesus dwells here. My prayer is that it’s a place where all who enter it feel loved, welcomed and safe.
I recently shared a simple tutorial on how to create your own mixed arrangement like this one. My flowers are still going strong today!
Two years ago, my husband and I did a major DIY by painting our cabinets. It was a tedious job but by far, the most amazing transformation on a budget.
Thanks so much for stopping by the tour! Here’s a link to my Spring Tour from last year. You can see all the changes that have taken place in one year. The next on the list for the tour today is Daraka at Farmhouse For Five. You don’t want to miss it. I’m smitten by her lemon wreath!
